| We here at the Keighley Cougars would like to take this opportunity to let you the fans know about the current situation regarding the dual registration with the Castleford Tigers.
With Daryl Powell new into the role at the Wish Communications Stadium he will be taking this time to look at the current status of the Castleford playing squad and who will and who will not feature in his plans, this will also see the current dual registration contracts in place also be reviewed.
As of this current time, Richard Owen, Jonathon Walker and Charlie Martin are the Tigers players on dual registration contracts with the club following Jacob Emmitt's departure to the Salford City Reds.
We hope to know where we stand with these players following Daryl's review and at this point we will then release more information to you, the Cougars supporters.

| Owen lacked commitment, Walker gave away too many penalties for my liking. The only player I thought added to our squad was Martin. Fair play to him, he gave his all every game and I'm sure has a bright future.

Pretty much agree with that.

| Just saw this comment from Adrian Morley about returning from injury on spotinglife.com, and, if that's the case, then I'm not precious about it."
His first thoughts weren't "partner club" but "A team". It reflects how many view the D/R system.

| We've not had a player for a few weeks now. If Marchy is happy with the squad at the moment and see's no reason to call upon any available Cas players surely there is an argument to say we should end it. I suppose on the flip side it's always there if we get some injuries. I just have a funny feeling come the last few games of the season there could be some surprising names on the team sheets which would really make a mockery of the situation.

| Nobody who is not close to the club knows what the agreement with Castleford says (even if it is in writing) but we are told it's just for this season. We were told that the agreement required the Castleford coach to tell Paul March a fews days before each Cougar match who from Castleford is available. Understandably Daryl Powell has had other priorities but if the agreement hasn't been adhered to by Casteford, Keighley Cougars could deem the agreement to have come to an end anyway, particularly as no Castleford player has played for Keighley for weeks. Has the club considered trying to get any other players on short term loan from any other club? I don't think any Championship club has an arrangement with Catalans for example. I wonder if former Cougar french speaking people like Steve Deakin or Dave Ellis would be willing to act as a link between Cougars and Catalans to see if there were any possible mutually beneficial short term player loans available?

I like the idea of Catalans but I would have thought the logistics of it might count them out for Keighley.

| Some of the Catalans players will probably have their permanent/main home base not far away from Keighley anyway (eg Leon Pryce, Damien Blanch, Brent Webb, Ian Henderson etc) - so if any of those for any reason could become available for loan to Keighley Cougars for a couple of games, I don't think the club should say no. Apart from anything else, the club's own young players can learn a lot from guys with that sort of experience. Ryanair can be a good thing!

| If it happened I wouldn't complain, I still think it would be highly unlikely... especially for the players you mentioned.
I'd also take Brent Webb off the list, friend of a friend and I've heard some tales which him make questionable as an example for young players.

| I think there is enough to say the deal should be voided. Neither club is benefitting so if nothing is set in stone let's move on.
We've not used this well and maybe panicked a bit. I can't see the Catalans thing happening, but it would be nice. There are some very good young players on the fringes in super league so maybe the loan option could be worthy of consideration. A half back and loose would be my priorities.

We thought about the Catalans but, to be fair, we find dual registration a distraction from what we ultimately need to be as a club. A longer term loan agreement for a player is ok but living on a week by week basis and disrupting the side has negative connotations for the immediate game, the season and the longer term.
