| Some good things offensively today, but we need to smarten up in defence. We seem to have gone away from our early season defensive structures. Danny Jones missed a few tackles today and seemed a tad shy in defence. Our left hand side looked weak defensively. A slow start from the Boys today and we only seemed to move up the gears after Moss' wonderful try saver on the right edge.
Seeing Mick O'Neill at half time in that same hat from 93 was worth the entrance fee alone. As an MC you either have it or you don't and he has it in abundance. It brought back memories for me of that famous day. If only Mick and Mike were involved now?! Nice to see the heritage day given some prestige.
The second half was a bit error strewn from both sides (and the ref!). How man times did King plant his elbow in the prone players face. Seemed ironic he went off with an apparent elbow injury. We seemed to do enough in the second half to win it and we exposed their left hand channel. Interesting to see Richie in the . Defensively he put himself about today and had one of his better games in a Cougars jersey.
3 points in the bag, but we need to work on a few things before Sheffield. A tough run in now..................

| I think that if we are to stand a chance of beating Sheffield we will have to step up a gear from the level we played at today, especially in defence; I do worry about some of our tackling at times - one might say that it's not 'robust' enough perhaps. Another aspect of our game which always gets me is our kick-offs / re-starts. They're always the same! And usually quite easily dealt with. York introduced a bit of variety into this part of their game and it paid off on at least two occasions when they got possession back directly from a kick-off / re-start. We need to take a leaf out of their book and try a bit of variation. York proved today that it works. Having just re-read the above before posting, I feel it sounds a bit overly critical - I did enjoy the game today and it was great to get the win, especially posting as many points as we did. Cheers, lads!

| I think yesterdays game proved one thing .. without JD on the pitch we have no general!!. I know JD is not getting any younger but i feel with the likes of obst and march on the pitch , someone should be grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck and no-one is. For me Danny Jones is lacking confidence in his attack and defence, lost count of the amount of times when he sprayed passes out with a big red cross on them or didnt back himself in attack. On the plus side Barnett had a good game yesterday ( MOM decision was a toughie, as Mossy and Gav must have come close. At the end of the day a win is a win ( a scruffy one ) but still room for improvement.

| If we play like that against Sheffield, we'll come away with nothing.
It seems that some players are just not bending their backs when tackling, just flailing at ball carriers weakly with their arms. We shouldn't be conceding so many points to one of the poorer teams in the division.
In attack we look ok, generally with the same 2 or 3 set plays which will be telegraphed by the better sides. I thought Craig Moss was outstanding, although I've no qualms with Barnett getting the Man of the Match award for his hat trick. Paul March exploited a weakness behind York's left edge with some very good kicks.
A win is a win, York left with nothing and an improved defensive performance at Sheffield will give us a chance of getting something.

Having read your post again, I'm not sure if you mean my post or yours. I just wrote as I saw it. Sometimes we can't use just superlatives and have to accept we can do better. Your post equally wasn't critical and your fair assessment on the game as you saw it. I'm sure we haven't said anything JD won't be saying to lads tomorrow.

I meant mine, but I can see how it was a bit ambiguous.

| Well done Mickey for coming down to film this game after walking from Liverpool to Leeds the last day full of flu. Who was that damn woman you were sat by?

| Quote: Lawkholme Len " Who was that damn woman you were sat by?'" Assuming you didn't mean the wife ? Some winging old Doris from York was near who could only see half way across the pitch and yet had an opinion on every incident even before it happened.
She also winged and moaned over the whole heritage part at half time and made the video not worth editing.
Such is life. She got in for 3 and moaned, moaned and moaned some more.
In fairness she was upset as her team was loosing and had driven a long way to follow them. At well over 60 you couldn't question her passion. Each Club has it's collection of extremely enthusiastic vocal pensioners and whilst I might not agree with all they say. I like some of these old characters. Be them from York or any other Club. They join in the banter, put their 10p worth in and help make the atmosphere that is Championship Rugby.
