| Well done Cougars you kept going right to the end
Great game by Sam Obst and Richie Barnett and the forwards as well but carnt knock any of the lads after today's performance. Roll on next week Sheffield hope we get the supporters down to get behind the team,
Now the ref ? ? How can this carry on the ref today made that many bad decisions which although wouldn't have cost us the match but would have made it certainly a more interesting score line

| Well done lads, really enjoyed the game, all the players did well. Was very disappointed in the referee, can't believe he missed an obvious knock on for their breakaway try!

| I was like the rest of those around me letting my enthusiasm get the better of me and therefore cloud my judgement. There were alot of 50/50 calls and once I got home and pondered the game I realized I was probably unfair in the stick that I was giving the ref. Sometimes they go for you, sometimes they don't.

| I didn't think the referee was all that bad.
Sure, I would say that 80% of what I'd call 50/50 decisions went their way but sometimes that happens.
To be quite honest the way some of our fans were pretty much contesting every decision he made in the second half made us look embarrassing.

| Show's how people's opinions vary based on what they observed. I didn't think Roby had his best game and thought he was a shadow of the ref we had in the grand final. Having spent the whole game in the Jewson terracing I didn't hear a great deal of contesting from Cougars fans in the second half other than the contentious knock on/charge down. Maybe if you were in another part of the ground it seemed different.
Warrington are a very good side let's face it and there was never going to a shock in my opinion. Feav beat Cas yeah, but Cas and Warrington are miles apart in terms of class and quality of players if you ask me. Even without the likes of Mongahan (how did crazy Dave pronouce it?!), Morley, Myler etc etc they still ooze quality.
One of the most pleasing things for me was that we never threw the towel in and despite some decisions going for/against us depending how you view it, we kept going. We were missing our catalyst player today in JD who so far this season has changed the game when he's come on. I was fearful how we'd go without his direction on the pitch, but we seemed to do Ok and he can obviously do a decent job from the touchline too!
I nice touch from the Warrington fans who stayed behind and clapped the Cougars off. Big thank you. Not as plush as the HJ, but hope you enjoyed your day out.
Warrington will beat some SL teams this year by a greater margin than that and I wish them well in the cup. We didn't seem to pick up any worrying injuries in the game too which is a positive, but Sheriffe looked to be hobbling at the end.
Dare I mentioned the quoted attendance????????????

| Firstly well played cougars, a good day out. I enjoyed the wire fans being here, the cheering at the end was pretty good from them, you wouldn't get that from Hull for example. Overall the day went as expected , maybe slightly better. It shows our defence is good enough to prevent disaster free scoring from the best of teams.
Referee- good/bad as any we get really. There were no real clangers from where I was, anything given against Paul March is probably fair! The charge down had to be just that, placing hands in the front of the kick deliberately on the fifth tackle to stop the play, ball can then be collected fairly. Correct me if I'm wrong?
What I find annoying is certain fans shout forward, offside and some infringement every play. Even when 50yards in front, how can you see? Just makes us look like whingers. Like being a odsal!!
We took wire to 26 points difference, that speaks volumes.

| ATT
2,196.
at least half of that were wire fans
so maybe an extra couple of hundred cougar fans than normal
To be fair it was a good attmosphere and I thought it might have been nearer the 2500 mark

| I shouted forward a few times when the pass was right in front of me and travelled forward. Annoyingly 2 resulted in tries very soon after. I often shout at infringements because I am a rules man and get annoyed when refs miss things. I retract 2 calls I made, which were the charge down which is a rule I'd forgotten about, and a potential offside which to be fair I wasn't well placed to see clearly. I often shout because few supporters near me tend to cheer at all so I have to keep my voice warmed up.
Ref rant over, The attendance was disappointing. The effort was awesome. Good atmosphere still.

Yes fair enough, when I think I see a poor decision I'm the first to shout. I lost my voice last time Laughton refereed he was so poor. However Referees get paid naff all, have a pretty hard job and have serious amount to contend with, pretty sure we had a few decisions go our way that weren't 100%. It just ruins my enjoyment sometimes when all u can hear is 'OFFSIDE!' in my ear for 80 mins.
There used to be a bloke who stood near us we labelled 'screaming man'. All he did was scream with no obvious complaint, just 80mins of hatred for the official.
Anyway, all in all good day out, good set of fans, good signs for this season

| Great game
Ok we lost
but certainly happy with the team today
one thing that certainly pleased me today is that JD did not play and we didnt make hardly any difference, last season we just crumbled when he did not play
for me I felt all the players did their bit but I felt James Haythornthwaite was dangerous, he was not in the game massively but his service to his wingman was spot on, anything defensively he was good (aprt from when they had an aparent overlap) and his break to set up the try near the end was nothing short of top draw, I also think he was why the Wolves swapped their centre partnership Monaghan and Blythe I think neither could handle his footwork and he certainly made them look ordinary.
Im now worried that SL clubs could come a knocking
other players I felt that all had their best cougar performances Korky, March, Barnet and Semi
I felt all the pack did as well as could be expected, I just think the wolves pace telled on them at times when they let in some soft tries to Hill and Westwood.
Obst did well considering they had a pre determined plan to make him defend, they sent allot of their big gys at him and he still managed to shine for us especiay with his 2 well took tries
the wolves wise
Riley was always a threat, Lee Briers is a class act thats simple, he and obrien linked well, Higham was dangerous and the young hooker dwyer was good too, Forwards wise I felt the only main difference was their forwards were getting offloads away as to ours wasnt, That did lead to tries and got us on the back foot
But I think mainly we can take allot of heart from the performance as a whole especialy the last 10 mins whch is a time where you woud have expected us to fade well that was not the case, I felt we were the better side at the finish and the games momemtum swung in our favour
That has to be the Number 1 positive JD can take and use for next week, I think Sheffield have a tough game on their hands next week
As the wolves players will certainly feel they have been in a game and will be feeling the bumps and bruises like any SL game. I think a certain MR Tony Smith will be very happy with the fact that he got a proper contest this week and not another 80 - 0 scoreline and I can see that result kick starting them I think they will go on and win their next 4/5 games

| i do wonder whether some fans go to support Cougars or just to whinge at the ref.
if we're in possession either the markers aren't square or the entire opposition is offside or both. it's an automatic response for some people to shout on every tackle. not exactly a positive listening experience and i think i'll stand elsewhere at the far end next time so i don't have to hear it.
i didn't think the ref had too bad a game. Cougars did themselves proud. Warrington fans were respectful - i just wish there had been more Cougar fans there.
well done Cougars!

| Sorry, but you can't generalise ... yes, we had a few calls in our favour but, on numerous occasions, laying-on, not standing square and forward passes went unpunished; whilst we were penalised.
Why was Buster (?) penalised for a 'high tackle' on Briers (?) when it was nowhere near high?
What about being penalised for grapple-tackles when the same decisions were not made against Warrington's players?
What happened to Korky, late in the second half, when he appeared to take a hit and complained, only to be penalised for complianing?
That said, the Cougars played really well BUT had the ref played to the Rules of the game then it would have been closer.
Roll-on next Sunday!

| Having seen many Super League matches on Sky this season, I'd seen loads of forrad passes being missed by the officials. I mentioned this to my pal who doesn't have Sky and therefore doesn't see the matches I get to see. I warned him to watch out for forrad passes by Wire but he was genuinely amazed at how many they got away with. The ref seemed to referee the game in a way that was sympathetic to Wire, not that they needed any extra help!
.
Next Sunday will be a tough one. 60 points past Fev at Post Office Road followed by 50 points past YCK at York. That's impressive stuff from the Eagles.
