| Typical Ronnie Laughton performance and by the end of the game even the Hunslet supporters were baying for his blood!
Isn't it about time that Stuart Cummins started to do some work for his salary and attempt to improve inconsistency by his 'charges'?
That said, a real tussle as we ploughed the central furrow time and again in the first 35 minutes - then the breakthrough!
Poor tackling in the second half gifted Hunslet their try - which should never have been! We should have scored 80 today, without reply.
Some outstanding play by 'Shick', Paul March - continuing from last week when he made the initial break time and again, Sam Obst, JD's pass that led to our second try, Ollie Purseglove, Korky - apart from when he beat most of the opponents and then passed to one! Sheriffe never lets his side down, neither did anyone else whom I've omitted. Richie Barnett's best game by a mile - in fact, he did more today than he's done all season. Good backing-up all round and well-taken tries, but we'll need to improve to win on Friday evening!
Decent crowd also.

| Another point worth mentioning is that 8 tries were scored today by 8 different players, well impressed by that as it goes to show that we have the ability to score all over the park,a great effort in defence yet again and we currently have the best defence in the league, even with the numpty in the middle we held our discipline and showed what a professional clinical team we are rapidly becoming, hats of lads and thank you.

| The 1st half was tight. Well done the lads for taking charge in the 2nd.
Perfect day from Dannys boot.
As for Mr Laughton. I didnt go to watch him, I went to watch the team. To be honest, most of what he gave was right, some of our fans today were as bad as the york lot were on thursday night at the reserve game, complaining because on opposing player was an inch infront. I will tell you now, a referee once told me, if the defending line is back 10, they are fine and dont need level with him.
If every offside was penalised, it would be very boring.
He allowed the game to flow, which is what we want to watch, not a stop, start game, and didnt do much different from any other ref, who we wouldnt have moaned about. But because its Ronnie Laughton, everyones on his back everytime he gives a decision against Cougars.

| With respect Andy even the Hunslet fans I spoke to couldn't understand a lot of his decisions today,I appreciate he has a job to do but he is by reffing standards very poor and we pay our entrance fee and are entitled to our opinion,I was very pleased we didn't let him effect our game.

| We won the game in what could be considered a boring first half.
It was clear that even up the slope our pack was making much more yardage than theirs. Once we got to start a couple of sets of 6 inside their half we scored. In the second half we were able to move the ball further out wide because of the dominance of our pack.
Andy Shickell was superb today. He was running some great lines and angles, he looks so much better for losing some weight. Sam Obst was given the Man of the Match by the sponsors, he wouldn't have been my intial choice, but he was putting the forwards in to gaps and his pass selection was superb.
As for the ref. He didn't give a penalty in the first 15 minutes which is unusual with his usual penchant for pedantry. Although, he didn't give us one at all until around 55 minutes. He was slightly better than usual. Mind you, I wish the coaches of the championship would stand as one and lobby the RFL to get rid of him.

Agreed Rach. I said after after the Boxing Day fixture at Fax he looked good. He runs hard and hits hard. He seems to get better each game. Another great acquisition by JD.

Andy, You have a slight point in that Ronnie was better today that in recent visits to CP. However, the one thing that frustrates me and other fans I am sure is inconsistency. The example that springs to mind (amongst others) is the play the ball . He penalised us twice when I thought we were interfered with. Yet, later in the game Luke Helliwell did exactly the same and got away with it. I think we may made him look better today by keeping our discipline. At times this season we have lost and give ourselves up, but today despite some adverse calls we took the hit and kept out discipline.
As for offside, I'm sure fans will always have their view and I'm not sure it's the cleverest move to start having a pop at your own fans, but your entitled to your view. For me, a few times both teams seemed yards in front of the ref yet offside was not given.

| On the subject of wingeing fans, I heard one of our fans have a pop at Ritchie Barnett saying something along the lines of "Gavin Duffy wouldn't have slowed down". He was returning the ball from a kick to start our first set of six in the game. Surely this has to be some sort of a world record?
