| Not in the slightest. Luckily enough I'm working that day, so will be leaving home about 11.30, and miss most of the hulabaloo

That's a very myopic view on it.
Given the amount of tourists that are coming here for it and the amount of money that will be made from foreign TV rights (America is obssessed with it). A few million spent on security is small change compared to what it will generate in tax revenue for the country.
No one else in the world is capable of an event as big as this, it's a time to be proud of our nation for a change. And besides it's an extra bank holiday isn't it?

If I knew what myopic meant it would help. End of day nurses, soldiers etc losing jobs and yet money free to help the royals. I am not anto royal well yes I suppose I am yes tourism will get a boost but what has to be remembeted is the added cost of security to protect them and others in royal establishment. As for bank holiday I volunteered to work.

| I won't be watching the wedding, but I'm not anti-monarchist, just not that interested in the weddings of folk I don't know! As a couple getting married, good luck to them. I wouldn't want to be in the public eye like they will be, for the rest of their lives.

As for the hardship of being in public eye its a choice they made and dont forget the benefits never paying for owt etc. If they didnt want it then they could say no. Just find it hard to accept this is not a waste of my taxes.

| Yeah, I'm sure just saying 'no' is an easy option for the royals. It might be for various other 'celebrity' types, but I think if you're born into it, have some sense of 'duty' ingrained from birth, it probably isn't an easy option to take. I'm not sure the public and press would respect that decision, either.

| Showing off your capital city and some of it's world renowned tourist attractions in front of an estimated 2 billion on TV in a way that really only we can do.
100,000 hotel rooms filled at extortionate rates.
Millions lining the route.
God knows how much tacky merchandise.

Royal Wedding
The wedding and tourism for this are relatively short term, clearly the government will be making money but in the real world as it is right now means armed forces. and nhs staff job losses are permanent the benefits in this situation are outweighed by the human cost. The royals do actually have a choice once adults to say no I want to be one of the boys yet still rip us off. If times were better I would have no real objections even though a waste of time but to find the money for this is distasteful to say the least. Bear in mind the money is in addition to the civil list money they get Imagine for one minute as has hsppened to my nephew serving in armed forces don,t worry about losing job a celebration of a wedding is better.

| I cant wait for the day.
Looking forward to sitting down and watching the whole thing.
For once my taxes will be going to the right place. Instead of just being spent stupidly.

So what you're saying is that we shouldn't host an event that will make money for the country because other people elsewhere may lose their jobs?
Do you realise how silly that argument sounds?
My own mother's job is in severe jeopardy due to the cuts, only last week she was served notice that her position was under threat for the third time this year.
Do you not think that this money could actually help to keep her, amongst others in their jobs?

Sadly some people do believe that.
