| Was anyone else embarrassed watching the Rhinos v Wigan. I refer to yhe cjanys clrarlu heard from Rhino fans during the game. No need to post what was chanted. Swearing is commonplace at most grounds is done by individuals and not the levels as per last night. I did not hear tannoy warning those involved as this a family sport it shows us in a bad light.

| The game itself was a cracker, the crowd was huge, infact if you add our attendances for the whole of this season then treble it you may be around the right mark, I hear what you are saying in that we class our sport as a family game and therefore don't condone bad language but you have to expect that 'boys will be boys' behaviour associated with a Friday night game and night out on the razz, I would take a crowd like last night with a few loud foul mouthed individuals over the few hundred spectators we see week in week out
Question, do you think new potential fans would take offence at not being allowed to express his/her opinion however they wish to word it just because they are in a 'family' ground?
After all, they have paid their hard earned cash to attend, are we hurting our own fanbase here?, should we have a terrace designated to families?

| That's like saying we should have an area for people who want to swear and generally be abusive! Only if they do it quietly, so families with young kids don't have to hear it.
If you want to swear and act like a c**k, go to football!

In my opinion the balance between what kids hear and what adults can say is wrong and it's killing the atmosphere in the ground.
Rugby League shouldn't just be a family game, it should be a game for everyone.
Don't get me wrong there are things that are completely wrong to hear at a rugby ground, racism, sexism, bigotry, homophobia, extreme bad language and chants aimed at provoking opposition fans. However, I think a chant along the lines of the Cricket Barmy Army's Mitchell Johnson song is fine, has a bit of industrial language in it, but it's bloomin' funny.
I go down to Cougars to support my home town team, but at the same time I go because it's a release from the daily grind at work, somewhere I can let off a bit of steam with friends. The way it is at the moment I feel like I'm treading on eggshells as regard what I can and can't say. At Whitehaven after us giving yet another dumb penalty away I let a swear word slip out. I immediately apologised for what I said as there were kids around (to which one said it was alright . However, why can't there be areas in the ground akin to a pub's tap room where adults can go safe in the knowledge that they're not going to cause offence?

| Fair play that Stealth ..
Though got to say there was one idiot yesterday at the game who made me ashamed to come from Keighley .. I'm sure anyone stood on the terracing in front of the Hall of Fame would know who I was talking about..
The amount of foul racist abuse aimed at the Oldham Fans and Lucas Onyango in paticular from this individual and his mates was outragous and good on the security lads who made sure he was ejected from the ground fairly sharpish ...should be banned for life IMHO.

| I have to agree with you on that Rach. This is a family sport and we do not want that type of abuse.
Thank goodnes they threw him out. What made it even worse they were laughing. And with children around it's not nice and it gives the club a bad image.

Hear Hear Rach.
My only concern was why he wasn't kicked out earlier. I heard he'd brought his own booze in to the ground. I saw him kicking off with a woman at half time, and he was being confronted by security before he started dishing abuse out at Onyango.

Same here.
He was at it before kick off.
Mind you there has been problems with racist abuse, in that section of the ground before.
May be a good idea to have a steward stand there.
I thought we had seen the last of dodgy fans..........maybe not.

simpsons/simp048.gif I have only been wrong once and thats because I thought I was wrong but I was wrong I was right!
Petty authoritarians aren’t man enough to challenge the actions of a person face to face; instead they incite a forum of rumour, innuendo and half truths, and impose rude sanctions to discourage those who dare question fairness.

Only saw it from a distance and didn't realise what was going on. No place in our game for that and as you say, a very long ban is in order.
As for bad language, RL and our club in particular sell themselve as a "family sport", so we should all behave accordingly near kids. I can understand people wanting to let off steam but surely Cougar Park is never so full that they can't find somewhere away from kids and then moderate the volume so it can't be overheard. There are some of our fans that could be overheard in Tommy Holmes over the sound of the crushing machine
I don't think a slip of the tongue causes offence, its repeated "heavy" swearing at full volume that annoys.

| Yeah, after one or two discussions witha certain bald individual, I'd like to moderate my earlier post!
The odd swear word popping out, I can live with that. Obscene or confrontational chanting, I don't want to hear it. In fact I'd be disappointed in the club if they ignored it if it happened .
there, is that clear???
