Anyone else appalled by what has been shown on channel 4 programme called dispatches. Once again Keighley is on tv this time not gang violence but physical assault on children at the mosque down Lawkholme lane. The assaults are carried out by the teachers. A leader of the Mosque stated this was the first they knew about it yet Ann Cryer our former MP who featured on the programme was aware of this going on years ago and was slated for raising the issue. I find the whole thing very disturbing. Whilst some people shy away from criticising the people representing islam in this way must be challenged as would be with any other relgion such as the abuse by catholic priests. There is no difference at all. Whilst this is no doubt carried out by a small minority this cannot be ignored. Non muslims are described as evil and other phrases not suitable for this forum viewed by people of all ages.

I to was appalled by the programme tonight.

Difficult to write something without sounding racist so i will bite my tongue

Similar to obeone, what I have to say may be difficult without it being classed racist by some people.

All I will say is, several people at work yesterday commented to me that they had seen the programme. So glad I moved out of Keighley when I did because all the programme will do if anything, is increase racial tensions in the town. Anyone who says it wont is obviously in cloud cuckoo land. Though having said that, I do believe the programme was right to go out and highlight what was happening, in the same way it should be highlighted in ANY other school.

It is sad to see Keighley in this light and is gives me no pleasure when people rubbish its name. I do miss Keighley for the Cougars but apart from that, sadly... nothing else.

What concerned me was the attitude of the Keighley Councillor at the end of piece accusing the film makers of putting kids in danger, using a sporting term he is not fit to wear the shirt.

Not really sure it will have any, increase racial tensions in the town. The bit about the mosque in Keighley, didn't have any racial element to it. I just found it very shocking to see kids being treated like that.

As for the other bit about the full time school. I was really shocked to see what was being taught to the kids there.

I think that because the footage shown was both from people of the same religion, some of whom had very 'negative' views about Christians, Jews and the outside world in general many people will just generalise about the whole programme. When you add in the views of groups like the BNP and English Defence League and their views on Islam, it wouldn't be surprising if more people came to that opinion.

I would like to say, I was born and bred in Keighley. It gives me no pleasure seeing things like that. I believe that the Muslims can get along just fine with all other faiths.

Though as long as programmes like that highlight the views of what is being taught and captures comments of the teachers coming out with comments along the lines of 'Intergration?! Theres no way I am intergrating into British society' and ' Dont talk to the Jews and the Christians', we have problems. The problems being they are TEACHING this to children, this isnt idle gossip between muslim men and women over a meal. They are teaching these ideas to the next generation. Who will grow up and not want to talk to Jews, Christians, Hindus and people of any other faith. Will not want to intergrate into British society, a society that is after all predominantly Chrisitian. As this increases, so will the popularity, amongst Christians, Atheists of the far right groups. Hence my reasoning for saying racial tension will increase.

I sincerely hope it doesn't.

Which is probably what the authorities will do, and as usual, NOTHING will happen about it.
