Did Alex Brown play for Keighley Cougars? Something tells me he did but i'm not sure.

He did!

I never rated him but he ended up at Huddersfield then went to Batley from there.

Alex was always a work in progress: one week he would be awesome; the next a liability.

It's like a lot of players at our level - they are just inconsistent. I think he won an award early in his career with us (after a couple of good games) then just seemed to disappear.

It must be difficult for the coach of a semi pro, part time team to teach players the basic understanding and skills required to play the game at a reasonable level. By the time players reach us they should just need their skills honing, fitness and tactical coaching and experience.

Alex put in a good performance and that final try was a peach, but he will need to put in regular performances like this if he is to progress. Good luck to the lad.

Liability

Personally a really difficult one this .. Alex,like Marlon Billy , Jonny Walker and Owen Simpson before him ... players with the one thing you cant coach into players ..natural pace ...but with a real lack of game awareness ...one thing that you can.

Jonny and Owen stayed and learnt their trade (at least for a while in Owens Case - but a decent fee for Keighley at the end of it after his transfer to Fev)

Alex choose a move side ways ..Rochdale .... would have been nice to see him repay some of the early faith that the Cougars showed his way ... but fair play to him he is one not bad winger now...

A player who you never knew what to expect. Came on the scene in 2006, started well, but had a weakness of not been able to deal with high balls, one that other teams used to their advantage and his confidence looked to suffer. Around mid season 06 surfaced the Alex Brown fan club and the fans chanting his name seemed to help him get better.

His best game I can remember him having for Keighley was in a U-21's game when he scored a hat-trick in March 2007. 2007 was abit better but he still made silly mistakes, one at Gateshead stands out when he picked the ball up from a Matt Foster kick despite been offside and gave a penalty away on our tryline. However he was voted the most improved player for that year and Barry did want him for 2008, but he stalled on signing and he decided to go to Rochdale Hairnets for some bizzare reason that only he knows. Then last year, he ended up at Huddersfield in 2009, making his super league debut around this time last year. And now at Batley on a season long loan.

Andy he made sure he caught that ball against Widnes, was a really good game.

Not fit to lace Gav or Hutch's boots,he couldnt catch flu when he turned out for us.
