After todays total disgrace in which Neil Spencer again made after game speech I am dismayed and disgusted the club allowed this to happen despite the fans views being clear on the role of Neil that resulted in administration and points deduction. The club as had ample time to sort this out, lets be clear Neil as NO OFFICIAL ROLE AT THE AT THE COUGARS. As yet the rfl have not deemed him to be a fit and proper person to have any role. As things stand today is the last day I will use my money at the club apart from the entrance fee. The new board have let me down and I am disgusted and they should wake up to the damage this ir doing. Clearly Neil as not got the grace to accept the damage he as caused and walk away not once has he made a case to say my and others views he as shafted everyone because the facts speak for themselves. To the board get a grip. To those if any that believe Neil as done no wrong prove that as chairman at the time he was not responsible he was in paper saying all was well financially when clearly this was a lie hence the tax bill which was not an overnight issue.

In an earlier topic I was asked if I was at the new directors' Q&A session after I voiced various concerns.

I was not.

I've heard too many empty statements of intent over the years to waste my valuable and limited time listening to PR spin.

I've decided action speaks louder than words.

Well, actions speak louder than words, and this and the thread about the U-18's match below speak volumes about the reality of the situation. As for giving the new board time, they clearly had a plan from the onset of administration, otherwise how did they gain control of the club? So why isn't the plan as outlined in the PR spin being implemented? In business, you do what you say, you walk the talk. You base your decisions on strategy and realistic options.

Doing otherwise leads to failure.

No offence GP, but i don't think the club will miss, the few pounds you spend on beer.

I think the bigger issue here is, have the fans views ever really counted for anything?

I didn't go today. I had a day with the family, we went for a walk.
Did i miss not going, no.

I will be picking and choosing the games i go to from now on.

What has happened of late, has lead to me losing a lot of interest.

It's time the club made a statement about this.

aj the club had promised a statement. If you remember, i was the one telling everyone, not to worry and the statement would be coming.

We are all still waiting for it.

Disappointing that Neil continues this "bluff"

I know that people from the club read this forum - you should be aware that there are fans who won't come in the bar anymore because of Neil.

Questions:

1) What is Neil's role at the club?

2) Why does he make a speech to the fans - we are quite happy just to listen to Barry. Neil's speeches are poor - forgetting the sponsors name is not very good PR IMHO.

3) Why did he feel the need to bring his "minders" - does he think the fans are upset?

You are at risk of alienating a lot of fans - if you don't care why should they? Once people sample alternate Sunday pastimes it is very difficult to get them back.

I know that Neil's family read this forum and you have to understand that this is not an attack on Neil the person, but his role in the demise of the club. If he believes he is innocent of the debt why didn't he explain this to the fans - he has had the stage twice now. Fans take this silence as proof of guilt.

Wll said Deamer but as previously indicated Nil is either deluded in his thinking this will go away or just does not care about the club otherwise despite the fact he has been involved at the club for 40 years makes him fel invincible to the effects of the mess up he has created.

As for the minders, quite silly really.

The club has to act on this and act quickly.

Like Dreamer say 2 weeks 2 speeches or bullsh*t and he has give no explanation so that leaves me thinking he realises he is guilty. I would have hoped and assumed he does not need the hassle and perhaps his family may need to point out to him.

This is simply about his involvement that brought about administration not the person.

How badly does that reflect on the club?

AJ it was more a case of one minder who seems a decent bloke to me but think he was looking out for his relative stood by door monitoring things and another elderly chap whose name escapes me trying to see who was upset he got short shrift from some fans.

This reflects badly on the club but Neil has to realise his empire and time has gone eventually

As GP says, there was no degree of menace, but the old chap was great for comedy value - he just stood there on the raised seating area scowling at everyone.

I could have felt insulted by his demeanour but I was busy wetting myself laughing. I just kept picturing that old Steptoe and Son episode where Albert and his buddies learn Kung Fu Fighting. I kept thinking that he was about to release his "look of death" on the naughty cougar fans for not prostrating themselves on Neil’s entrance (oooerrr, that could sound rather rude).

It's just getting silly now, the new board are about to loose all credibility with the fans.

If Neil had taken the opportunity to say why he (apparently) lied about the clubs financial position, the fans may have listened, but just ignoring it won't make it go away or make the fans forget.

How about with there not being an official role for Neil and therefore no need for him to do after game speeches the club does a draw from all interested fans to alow them to do it after a game that it takes Neil out of the picture and in turn will help fans involvement after al PAYING fans and not those who get in free under various pretences this does not include those who work at the club and are not officials at the club as the precedent has already been set by letting Neil do it.

The speech is only short one and consists of thanking match sponsors and fans announce man of match, then hand over to the man that matters and that is Barry Eaton whom I feel sorry for in all this like us he has been shafted by this debacle.

Some points might be valid, but many of us don't know the facts.

What is a fact is that some fans like to go out on valentines day with their wife and not have people f ing and jeffing in long heated arguements in the bar around them. Cougars was very much a family club.

There are times and places.

Why air all the clubs dirty washing online so other clubs can laugh at it?

I don't think the way this was very talked of yesterday is good for kids who were in the bar.

If people feel so strongly they should go and say it to the person face to face not publish rumours or rant in front of our families in the bar.

Who would ever dare do such a thing?

Clearly Mr. Spenser is still very much part of the club and regardless of whatever the League say, it aint going to change a thing.

Speech maker at the after game drinkies is not 'Chairman' of the club nor does it influence the way the club is run....HOWEVER.... Clearly there is more to this than meets the eye...

Obviously the new board do not have any significant experience in running a Rugby League club - Therefore they are looking to Neil to guide them - to limit mistakes being made?

Seriously though.. Mr. Spenser obviously still has investment in the club and feels the need to protect his investment.

One thing I have learned - the people on here (RLFANS) and their opinions don't necessarily represent the thoughts of the masses.... having said all that, having spoken with players (Of the past), there is no great love for the chap.
