The first coaching changes of the season have been made with Boudreu out at Washington and Maurice fired at Carolina.Both have been replaced with big name players from the past in the NHL with Dale Hunter in at the Caps and Kirk Muller in at the Canes.

Hmmm Deadly Dale Hunter interesting choice for the Head Coach, maybe the organisation feel the players have been taking the urine a little and want someone who will not take any messing or players players dare not mess with. Wonder if he'll hire Al Iafrate as his No.2



Still think he's most famous for the late hit on Turgeon after he'd scored in the divisional semi's getting the longest ban in NHL history at the time.

Still he's a 'Capital' through and through so what he lacks in coaching experience he will make up for in desire which seems to be what the likes of Ovi and Co are missing.

Not the greatest start for Hunter with the Caps going down 2-1 to the Blues and only managing to get 19 shots on goal through the game!

Grim start to Hunters Capitals coaching career. The game against Pittsburgh is massive to see how we respond from this.

Ovechkin breaking a bit of a goal drought. He looked pretty decent in the Sens game, the Ovechkin and Semin line may be what we needed to get more of a boost.

We got pasted 5-1 off the Flyers tonight. They played unbelievably well, completely shut us down and our attack had no answer until Philadelphia had taken their foot off near the end.

Chicago have kept up a good winning run to stay at the top of the Western conference,they need to keep it up as the Redwings are also looking good this season.

Hawks lose to the Pens 3-2 after leaving it too late again going into to the 3rd period 3 nil down. Engelland getting away with an illegal hit on Kruger although has now been called to a hearing by the NHL's safety department.

Hawks back to winning ways beating the Habs 5-1 although Habs got on the scoreboard first.

Hawks got bit a breathing space with Detroit & the surging Blues both losing.

John Tortorella is going to be part of the ASG at the end of the month. Fair play to him, I had my doubts when he took over but he has certainly showed me this season. Long way to go yet though, but we are in a tremendous position at the moment.

I was chatting to my mate (A Rangers Fan) the other day about who we think will get to the conference final from the east, i honestly think the way the bruins and rangers are playing it will without a doubt be them 2 to contest it, if they dont meet on the way of course which they shouldn't if they stay in their respective positions.

ATM i just cant see any team from the east beating either team over 7 games

I never used to like Tortorella but having watched the hbo nhl 24/7 series about the winter classic i've changed my mind about him,he came across well in the series and I was impressed with his pre and post game speeches to the players in the locker rooms.

Chicago finally got back to winning ways last night after losing the last 4 games.In years gone by I had got used to them losing bunches of games in a row

while they were losing the Blues jumped above them in the division but I still think it'll be us against the Wings for the top spot by the end of the regular season.
