| Cant get onto betfair atm to show my results, but laying the front 2 in the place market in fields between 5-7 runners, has proved profitable for me, away from Ascot yesterday, results at sp were;
2.15 thirsk- 2 unplaced at 11/8 at 3/1
6.00 brighton- 2 unplaced at 11/8 and 9/4
6.30 brighton- 1 placed at 9/4, 1 placed at 9/4
7.35 newton abbot- 1 placed at 1/1, 1 unplaced at 3/1.
All place prices were odds on.

| Quote: Wire_85 "You think Frankel is overhyped because of his times?
Have a look at how quick he covers 3-4f nothing can live with it.'"
Thats why I would like to see him over 6f, but I dont think his racetimes deserve the ratings and the plaudits he's received. Just my opinion, that I will be happy to bet by in future. Regarding his next target, The Sussex stakes would suit him better than the Jacques le Marois, I'd even bet him to beat Canford Cliffs.

It'll never happen, that's why Cecil laughed at Rishi yesterday when he suggested it. Why run Frankel over 6? imagine how devastating he'd be if he was dropped in and let loose 4 out, he'd thrash any opposition. Luckily Cecil doesn't have the same thoughts.
Quote: Live Wired "As for today, Dettori gets a nine day ban for thrashing the living poop out of Rewilding in winning by a neck. Not sure that this makes the result acceptable, myself.'"
Course it does, Dettori deserved his ban for hitting Rewilding 24 times in 2 furlongs and the stewards have done a good job but you can't say the horse doesn't deserve the win, that's unfair, he's battled with everything he has for 3f to catch and beat SYT and fully deserves the victory. He didn't just win because Dettori was excessive with his whip.

| 24 times in 2 furlongs?! Jesus. The press had a field day when the National Hunt boys were "guility" of lesser "crimes", I wonder if this will be brushed under the carpet in comparison because this is "Royal" Ascot and our hero Frankie?

The press where up in arms because horses died in the Grand National, there is a planned investigation into the use of the whip for October. The press will take no interest in Dettori's ban, just like the Grand National uproar went quiet on by the following Monday.

There was a piece on the BBC national news about the use of the whip on Monday or Tuesday evening (can't remember). Idiots like Dettori do no favours to the racing purist who understands the use of the whip.

| Hughes spoke a lot of sense about whip use in the RP the other week. He briefly outlined the rules in India (where he rides over the winter) and it did make a lot of sense. His column has been excellent reading - he does talk a lot of sense.
I think it was something along these lines...Horse only allowed to be hit certain amount of times in a certain distance or something, a breach sees the jockey fined and if they break their three strikes then they are banned from using a whip for a certain length of time (can be around a month) which, in effect, will probably see them having to stand down for the duration.
A lot of people just like to bash racing though because of the whip without knowing anything about it. Hughes said in the same column that it is the noise of the whip that gets the horse to switch on, it doesn't hurt them to be hit with it and he said he would stand with his pants down at Newmarket and have his backside whipped for half an hour to prove it doesn't hurt. Presumably by Emma Spencer or Suzi Perry and not Clare Balding.

| He talks to everyone as if they're stupid too, and even when he hasn't got a clue what he is on about patronisingly tries to correct people.
Willie Carson is equally annoying, wish he'd take a bloody chill pill.

It's worse when he's the one leading the questions to someone like O'Brien after SYT race too, he asks some awful questions and as you say he hasn't got a clue what he's talking about.
At least Carson is knowledgeable about racing, he does talks some sense eventhough he does get very excited over nothing.

| Gold Cup
Fame & Glory 3/1
Fame & Glory is following same path as Age of Aquarius and the mighty Yeats if he stays he wins its that simple.
Kasbah Bliss 18/1 EW and 5/1 Place
Stays all day and show at Meydan that at 9 he's still got plenty of speed when 4th in a Group 2 to Monterosso who then came 3rd in the Dubai World Cup, Doumen thinks having a good break is the key to him running well and he's been off since April the puzzle is what ground does he need as Doumen always moans about it not being his ground, he wants it good or fast according to him but said it was too sticky when beat on good ground last year yet when winning in April on good to soft he said it was perfect so who knows.
