| That didn’t last long!!! Apparently they plan to field a team in 2021 but surely they can’t be allowed to do that? Why pay all that money for SBW if finances were tight? Yet another farce for Superleague to deal with.

I agree.
You cannot just resign and then expect to walk back into the same division in the following season, pandemic or otherwise!

| And who will they promote? I haven't seen anything about the lower leagues re-starting.

If the Championship does not resume to produce a promoted club, they could play with just 11 clubs and two extra loop fixtures or just play 27 fixtures instead of 29 and then revert back to the normal format in 2022.
It's not rocket science!

| A lot of ignorance being displayed here. Remember they don’t get any central funding (no complaints from me) and are entirely self funded. They have the funds to pay their players and staff but not for hotels, stadia etc. Not having home match day income is a huge blow and would be to any club.
It’s sad that it’s happened and promotion and relegation should have been kiboshed by now anyway, prior to this today. I still stand by they should be in SL 2021.

| Got into SL on merit, lots of folk sticking the knives in but Toronto have done more in three short years than most clubs outside of SL have done in thirty.

How? They gave the sport more exposure, expanded us properly into North America, developed a homegrown fan base, negotiated their own TV deal and gained promotion on merit.
A joke? That comment is completely ridiculous.

Their owner, David Argyle, left after the allegation of racist remarks to a Swinton player last season, I don’t know who the owner is now. Their founder Eric Perez isn’t involved anymore as he’s leading the Ottawa charge.
I don’t know how much they bring in each week for a home game. What a silly question to ask.
They give a percentage of free tickets out but have had successful sales of season tickets for this season and have plenty purchasing home game tickets on the day. They will now refund season tickets to their fans, money which they would have been counting and depending on.
I am pro Toronto, as I’m pro New York and pro Ottawa but I’m not pro them staying in the SL long term. Their long term goal has to be developing a North American professional league to rival SL. However, in order to develop the club and fan and player base a stay in SL for all three may be required.

| I thought it was due to having 7 players who's visas have run down, so not having a big enough playing squad, and nothing to do with money. Although they don't get any central funding.

Argyle is still the owner,he just stepped back after the comments about the Swindon lad.
They have to be relegated you can’t just say oh we can’t do it this year, see you next time toodle pip, from day one this season it’s been one thing after another to the point they couldn’t raise a 17 man squad.
If this was Bradford the pitchforks would rightly be out.

In ordinary times I’d completely and utterly agree without question. But these are extraordinary circumstances and times. No incoming revenue through no home games and a refusal by SL clubs to loan them money is why this has happened. Relegation & promotion should not go ahead (and I believed it shouldn’t beforehand anyway) as the likelihood of the Championship starting again is low. Catalans too are at huge risk, I wonder would the same glee be shown if they went as well?
Bradford were given all the help they wanted and still went boom. This situation bares no resemblance to Bradford’s in anyway. The comparison between the two is void.

We are playing 27 rounds next year anyway. We can't have an odd number of teams with an odd number of rounds so someone will need to be promoted as realistically Toronto have to be relegated after withdrawing. Had this been Hull KR, Wakefield or Salford withdrawing people wouldn't have bat an eyelid at them being demoted, the same should apply to Toronto.
The Championship in whatever form possible should now resume with the winners being promoted for 2021.
