| It is with much sadness that I announce the passing away yesterday of my 104 year old Mother ( 1 month short of 105)
after a short stay in Hospital.
You may think it is a bit strange putting it on here, but it isn't really when all her life she loved watching Rugby League, even the Eddie Waring years.
Every time I told her Rugby was on the tele she would ask "is it proper Rugby or is it where they all keep piling on top of one another".
God Bless goodnight Mam.

Thoughts are with you Brian. I've just been down to see my mam. She's 94 next Thursday (28th) What does she want? "a win over Wire"
A golden generation.

| My great gran passed at 101, feels weird when they are sat there and you are looking at a living history book, Queen Victoria was on the throne when she was born, I used to find it fascinating seeing these old pictures of royalty and importance and then looking over at my great gran knowing she was alive and young then.
Sorry for your loss, it's amazing as a culture and society we don't respect old people the way some other cultures do.

here here, My great gran passed at 96, she lived in Golborne, Very near Wire territory but she knew her roots and was a big Wigan fan. I remember picking apples off a tree in her back garden in the 90's. It's a road now. We all have a great rivalry obviously but we respect each other in this sport which makes it special. I could go to a pub in Warrington or St. Helens with my colours on and have a good chat with 90% of the folk in there. Obviously there are the 10% that want to cause bother but that is in every town and in every sport. I like to think that as a whole as a RL community we pride ourselves on respecting the opposition and drinking with them etc. A tradition that should cary on long into the future.

| I'm from Golborne, these last few years I've seen more Wire and Saints shirts creep in when I've gone back to see family but when I was at school I could count on one hand the people who didn't follow Wigan if they followed rugby, at both primary and high school.
Im guessing she lived near the old Colliery
