Wigan Warriors Secure Grand Final PlaceTonight's sudden death game at the DW Stadium pitted second against third as Wigan Warriors hosted the Huddersfield Giants in the first 2015 play-off semi-final. Wigan came into the game on the back of a big win over the Castleford Tigers, but the story was very different for the Giants who were left reeling by a traumatic last minute defeat at the hands of the Rhinos last weekend. A loss which denied them a home semi-final and instead sent them over the Pennines.
Wigan came into the game unbeaten in Super League at home and just one win away from a third consecutive visit to Old Trafford for the games showpiece event. The Giants were looking to get to Old Trafford for the first time but the pundits and bookies had them as underdogs for a Grand Final debut.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

| Congratulations on reaching Old Trafford.
i hope we can set up another derby for next week.
Must say, from viewing on TV that game had a very flat feeling to it.
the game wasn't particularly high intensity or good quality and it had more of a pre season friendly feel than a do or die semi final with massive stakes.
I don't think Thursday is the right night to play these types of games to be honest.
Huddersfield's travelling support looked pityful given the gravity of the game.
Despite every second mattering something still isn't working.

Huddersfield fans turned up in numbers today, many more than I can ever remember them bringing to the DW. Excellent for a Thursday, although they didn't make much noise

| Huddersfield were atrocious there, felt sorry for their supporters. Their team truly are weak-minded bottlers.
Very professional from Wigan though, terrific attitude to defence. Wane picked exactly the right team.
Gildart despite passing too early on the break early on was great. Exciting player. Bateman and Bowen were very good too.
Fingers crossed for next week.

.....and with HIS team, not that of the previous head coach.
Great game last night, Wigan got a stranglehold on the game from the off and never let go. Made up for Bateman (getting m.o.m.) who never takes a backward step. He is a true warrior. Not sure what his contract situation is but he needs to be secured to the club very long term.

Spoke about this last night and as I said then he needs to be tied down ASAP and for the longest term possible. He's irreplaceable in superleague terms and is worth every penny of what he'll be after. He along with Sam Tomkins, Liam Farrell and George Williams can carry this team forward past the retirement of Lockers and continue our run of reaching finals and having success.
It'd be some boost to announce a new deal in the run up to the grand final.

Isn't he already?
I sat on the coach after the Catalans away defeat and I posted that I thought his time was coming to an end. I'm glad to say I was wrong. He's picked the team up and they look to be over the mental scars of the last Grand Final.
To get to a final with a young side is a testament to his work and the respect the squad has for him.

| Giants were very disappointing, I never thought for a moment they had any chance of winning, and I don't think they did either. Their support looked to me much more than they've brought to the DW in the past, and they deserved better.
That said, we defended very well when called on. I expected a much tougher challenge, though. In that respect, it wasn't much of a preparation for the GF.

Agreed, the only slight disappointment from a Wigan POV was that had we been a little more clinical in the first half we'd have been out of sight a lot earlier.
