Tell me about going to Catalans, guys, please!

Who's been? How did you get there? Club organised flight, or made your own way? How did you find Perpingnan? Accommodation? How far in advance did you book?

About how many Wigan fans go? I've vaguely thought about it for a couple of years now.

We went last year for the first time. Stayed in Calella on the Costa Brava and did it ourselves, booking everything separately. Flew from Manchester to Girona with Ryanair. Airport and match transfers with catalansporttours. Loads of cheap and cheerful hotels in and around Calella, Lloret de Mar, Santa Susanna etc. We did Thurs - Mon for about £300 each.

We're going Thursday-Tuesday from Manchester to Girona and staying in Lloret.

Flights, transfers and our apartment has cost about £200 each. Flights are via Ryanair, transfers through Catalan Sports Tours and the apartment for 5 of us was booked via booking.com.

The club tours are a rip off in comparison! I suppose they take the hassle away but it's not too much organising. We booked it all early December.

I know the club has 600 tickets and I'd guess around that many and maybe a few hundred more will travel.

It's a cracking weekend.

if you're thinking of a longer stay, Perpignan itself is ok as a base to explore. You'll need to hire a car or drive down (take your time over that if you do, got the ferry over to Calais & then stopped at Rouen & Châtelaillon-Plage - avoid Paris. make sure you've got a credit card that doesn't charge for ForEx transactions - you'll need it for the tolls on the motorways) & stayed next to the Castillet

Were doing almost exactly the same this year (Easyjet instead of Ryanair). Booked when the fixtures came out about £250

i would certainly recommend staying in barcelona if youre going with family and driving up on game day as i'm not a fan of staying in places like lloret at all, even though these places certainly tick the boxes if you're traveling as a group of guys on the lash

I'm staying in Lloret but we are going as a group of 4 blokes and my 15 year old nephew. I've been to Lloret before and certainly wouldn't go back with my family but it'll be a decent base for us.

We're going to do a full day/evening in Barcelona and we've obviously got a full day/night in Perpignan so it'll leave a couple of days to chill with a few beers and a bit of sun!

with the company you're going with i think that you're got your trip spot on

I went with my missus a few years back and it's basically bars and a couple of beaches isn't it. I didn't see myself going back but like you say its decent for our group.

I'll probably sample a few ales in between the rugby and our trip to Barca
