| Is it me or have I missed something when reading the new RL structure. I understand right to the point (after 23 super league rounds) where the three leagues split. What I want to know is, when the 8 teams (in Super League) play each other once, does the league start again or do the teams carry the points already accrued forward. Secondly, if they play each other ONLY once, who plays at home and who plays away

| I think the points continue the same in the Super 8's phase but not entirely sure. After the regular season the top 4 clubs play 4 games at home and the rest away. The bottom 4 of the 8 play 3 games at home and the rest away.

Super 8 (top 8 ) and Kingstone Press Championship (bottom 8 ) keep the league points from the regular league while The Qualifiers (middle 8 ) are reset to zero and placed so that the top two of the merging groups make up the top 4 and the rest the bottom 4 and follow the same structure as the other teams.
I was and am still sceptical about the new structure but also interested to see how it plays out over the next few years.

| Teams 9 and 10 in SL and 1 and 2 in the championship have the 4 home games.
Whoever finishes 11 and 12 in SL are in Grave Danger of going down IMHO. The 4th place decider would be the biggest game of the season in any division !
Would be interesting to see how the confidence levels are come middle 8 time.

| In theory it's possible that the 9th club in SL could be relegated whilst the 4th team in the Championship are promoted.

| The new format is a joke. End off. If rl fans don't understand it then there is no chance of attracting newbies. Well done rfl

| Think this is a good move, really looking forward to next season. With closer games and far fewer dead rubbers. Season ticket renewal was an absolute no-brainer whereas the last few seasons I've resented paying good money for a season ticket when it was realistically a foregone conclusion that we would make the play offs. I'm sure I can't be the only one who struggled to get too bothered when we lost regular season games.

cracking explanation, but for non converts its as clear as mud even if they are patient enough to try read through it, but for fans who have been questioning the point of finishing high its a great idea. Instead of 27 relatively meaningless games followed by a play off system that doesn't attract interest until it actually matters, we have 30 meaningful games followed by a wham bam knock out that SHOULD attract the fans, even the ST holders who suddenly have to buy tickets.
I did learn something on the link, that shows up one fundamental flaw imo...the money I am not prepared to spend going to Newcastle will be spent having a nice weekend in Blackpool , with the added bonus of watching 7 rugby matches.

Just how do the Aussies survive without artificially rigging the league to create meaningful fixtures and without P&R?
From the link Andy providedin a sustainable manner."
I really don't see how the new system is any more sustainable than the old when we had P&R last time. At some point a team on the full SL salary cap will have to slash its wage bill and fire players off. If they don't then they will just go back up the year after. All the arguments against P&R from a financial point of view have not gone away.
All this system does is kick the problem of dealing with teams that pay vastly different amounts to players further down the road.

| The same teams will dominate, there will be more teams going bust chasing promotion or avoiding relegation, our top players will continue to leave to ru and nrl cos we can't compete on salaries or ambition and there will be no marquee signings to boost attendances for the same reasons. No other sport would spread resources in the same way to reduce the quality of the elite teams. But it will be a sustainable disaster.
