| I normally get to a fair number of academy games. Not this year though. I am interested in your views as to who is going to make it, not having seen for myself.

Wigan had eight in a row

| Oliver Gildart, Jack Higginson, Liam Forsyth and Nick Gregson have all played well in the academy this season.
However I think that if Luke Waterworth can put some size on he can be a superb player. He is one of the few hookers who appearers to have the complete game. His passing and decision making from dummy half is as good as you will see from a young player. He turned the game around when he came on in the academy semi final at Saints.
It'll also be interesting to see how Joe Bretherton comes back after missing the entire season with an ACL injury.

| I personally like the look of Jake Shorrocks at stand off, think he's going to be great player.

| Hugely impressed with Gildart in the GF. He's got great footwork and had real heart in taking the fight to Wire late in the game when they were all over us.
He'd be my bet to make a breakthrough next.

| Surely Gildart is a good bet given that Thornley is out for the start of the season and Gelling does tend to pick up the odd injury or two. Wouldn't be surprised to see Connor Farrell and Ryan Sutton get more game time if we let Hughes and Dudson go ( )

| I've been impressed with Liam Marshall, finished the season as top scorer but hasn't played all season. His size has been mentioned in the past but it doesn't seem to hold him back and he plays above his weight. He's very quick. I know the club have been impressed with him and coaches high up in the pecking order have been keeping a close eye on him.

| Lever has been outstanding in the pack this season and looks strong at prop. In the backs Gildart was the stand out player.

| That's 10 mentioned so far, add in Hampshire and Tierney as obvious.
The final was my first Academy game this season, but I was struck with how bigger the Warrington players seemed. Is this down to luck, different conditioning at this age group, or my eyesight?

I thought Tierney was a bit average in the (few) appearances for the 1st team this year - has he improved enough to be a constant or regular contender?

Others will have a better view on his future, but he only played 1 first team game in 2014 in which he scored a superb length of the field try.

It was a cracking try that, he looked weak under the bomb in that game though, and in the Leigh friendly before that. I'd hope that Wane could work with him on that because otherwise he looks a great prospect.

When TalkTalk finally fixed my broadband I got to watch the final. Tierney made some fine edge breaks and he did his opponent for sheer strength for a try. Perhaps he will make a winger.
As another poster said the Warrington lads looked bigger and their second row was a hand full when he concentrated. We do seem to produce a lot of players in the Chris Tucson mold, skillfull but not huge. The last really big lad we had was Brooks but he moved on.
I do often wonder if we could make use of our much hyped RU links and target some of those back row forwards who are never going to be kept on after 18 because they will never reach 6 ft 6.

I'd guess at Tierney but you could get Gabe Fell.
