| So for 2015 onwards disabled supporters will have to pay full price for a season ticket. This in of itself is a bit of a blow for my father who is disabled and has no full time income, besides his disability benefits, he's too young to draw a pension also.
I'm his carer, not on a formal basis as I work full time, my brothers and mother all pitch in also. I accompany my father to the matches and since 2005 have done so on a free carer's season ticket. This is to assist my father with the stairs, getting to and from the stadium and also assisting toilet trips.
Upon application of a 2015 season ticket my father has to prove that he's disabled. Now this has been done upon supplying a copy of his disabled 'Blue Badge'. Now this needs to be submitted and signed by a doctor or other medical professional, whilst also confirming he needs assistance at the games.
We've had a phone call from the club this afternoon to say they need even more information as to why he needs a carer and they will review it. My question is, are the able to do this? If my father says he's disabled and needs assistance, and his doctor confirms this, who are Wigan to question this?
Where do we stand from a legal standpoint on this? It really seems like the club are trying to wrangle two full priced season tickets out of us, which we simply won't be able to afford.

Hopefully it's just admin rather than them trying to squeeze you for cash. If they refuse I'm sure a call to the WEP or threat thereof would be enough to motivate them to change their stance

| They may have had some people taking advantage and are probably just doing relevant checks. Genuine cases have no need to be concerned.

| It appears to have something to do with recent legislation. My neighbours in the west stand have to go through hoops to prove they're entitled to disabled parking now. There's a bit on it in the main sitehttps://www.wiganwarriors.com/WContent.aspx?id.
Not sure who's responsible for this "Disability Discrimination Act and Equality Act" legislation (Labour or the ConDems), but it looks like the law of unintended consequences has kicked in around it.

| The problem, like always will be the lazy jobless scroungers who play the system for all it is worth making it unnecessarily difficult for those who are genuine.

Calm down, Nigel, you'll have a coronary.
