| superleague is crap - wigan have won tonight without breaking sweat. Don't get me wrong I want wigan to win, but most of all I want to watch a hard, competitive game irrespective of the outcome. If anyone seriously thinks this new structure is going to result in every game being competitive, quote saints owner, then they are deluded. If Hull cant give an under strength wigan team a game, then I cannot see the like of Leigh, fev etc. doing any better. Reduce the league to the lowest common denominator to improve quality and competition - I think not. The game will be fully amateur in 10 years, floundering in the wake of RU & NRL.

| Do you think Man City fans complained when they were beating teams 5-0? Thrashings happen in sport. Did you watch Leeds v Cas the other night? Awful weren't it.

| Hull had a lot of injuries as well but it was a low quality game. Wane said after the match on GMR he thought we were scrappy and not clinical enough and I agree.
We made a lot of errors, bombed a couple more tries and still scored 56 points.
I enjoyed watching George Williams have a really good game (well deserved MoM) but overall it wasn't a satisfying game to watch.
I have seen us put a lot of points on teams many times and quite often its because we have been sh 1 t hot and I have left the ground with a big grin on my face but that didn't really apply tonight.

If you are satisfied with 1 quality game in 10 then adopt the same blinkered attitude. I enjoyed everyone one of the 8 league and cup winning years. The RFL and the new structure is a joke - you only need to look at the inactivity on this site to give you an indication of how disinterested people are. The game is doomed and we are all sleep walking to its death. Give me an example of how the RFL has used the success of the World Cup to develop the game??

| TBF, next year you take away two of the run of the mill games (Bradford and London) and replace the extra games against top 8 teams then it is better.
They'll always be easy beats when a top team faces a bottom team (and that is what Hull are). You aren't going to get 11 home games of close gripping excitement......it's unrealistic and if you did you'd probably only complain that you weren't blowing teams away by 40 points.

So you don't think games against Hudds and Cas won't at least be interesting? Catalans if away is usually tricky (granted they lost their heads this time)

but unless your out of the top 8 you wont be playing leigh fev etc and I think hudds cas and cats give you good games referring to your point that there are only four decent teams haven't cas already beaten you twice this season

| Cas have beaten us twice as have Hudds.
Cas also took a thumping from us too.
Hudds won't win anything, Cas might as they are in a semi.
Come on Fun Time, admit it this is a very good night for you and your HKR mates!

even if we, fc, were at full strength, i still think you would have beaten us by a similar score, (you did at the kc), with the muppet in charge coaching the players at the moment we will continue to flounder, the guy is out of his depth, not once as he taken responsibility for a loss!

I'd prefer closer games of higher quality (I suspect next year's structure will at least deliver fewer thumpings) but I'm also a realist. Top teams thrash bottom teams in all sports, it's not pretty but that's the nature of competitive sport.
We've been involved in plenty of quality games this year, Cas away, Saints home and away, Leeds Magic, Salford away, Wire away. Not all wins, but entertaining games.
Regarding the World Cup, that's an entirely different debate.

I take your point, and it’s one that’s been quoted for donkeys, but what is YOUR answer to the problem? Many ideas have been put forward over the years like smaller league, less games, change to the league structure, higher or lower salary cap etc. most solutions given with or without P&R, but what would you do to change things? For mine I can’t see any big change no matter what is done. Tweak it where you want but IMO you’ll still get the same teams at the top, and more or less all the same teams at the bottom. All you can do to really change it is to have a breakaway super-duper league of what is more or less the present top eight teams playing each other over and over again, and would that work? I very much doubt it, but who knows, I don’t!

I was saying the same thing in 1998, I eventually stopped buying a season ticket in 2001 but I still come back for more, even the NRL has drubbings but its the best team sport competition in the world hands down. Give me an example of how the 2012 London olympics have developed anything in the northwest? we will always come back to league because its entertaining

This is what I would do;-
1. Retain the franchise business model - can anyone give me clear reasons why we would change? in 6 years both Catalan & now Widnes have been allowed to develop into strong clubs. In my view promotion & relegation is not the answer as this will only serve to go back to the days of boom and bust. If the reason for change was due to clubs going to the wall then club chairmen and the RFL, who were supposed to be monitoring club finances in real-time if you remember, are to blame and so the decision to change is obviously due to their incompetence.
Build strong clubs with good youth systems combined with a sprinkling of big names and the quality of the comp will improve. I have said it before, there is not enough quality in the current superleage, so where is it going to come from when we dilute it to two divisions? This will upset people, but the existing championship clubs should be structured to form a feeder comp to develop players for the elite league.
2. Increase the salary cap to a level which means that clubs can go out and attract marquee signings which will attract excitement and punters through the gates. The fact that some clubs are not spending the max now is irrelevant as this just endorses the lack of quality in the comp - see 1
3. Scrap England RL and go back to GB Lions with Ashes Tours in alternate years - we currently have a handful of players in NRL which is good but other players need an opportunity to test themselves and playing the best will only serve to develop them.
4. Having 8 in the play-off achieves nothing - top 5 will create big intensive games. May be take these on the road to showcase the sport? Currently, play-off are drab affairs until the semis so people don't go, preferring instead to watch at home or in pub.
5. Re-brand the comp. Christ, the word 'Superleague' is associated with netball and women's football! The NRL have introduced a brand which spans the whole sport to give it identity - the RFL go for the first thing that comes into their head without taking the trouble to consider how to promote and develop the brand. 66,000 at last years final which the good folk of Warrington were craving - is the appeal of the big game dwindling??
The above is not rocket science and has been stated before in many guises. I have watched RL since 1974 and have brought up my lads to follow the game also but it is now becoming impossible to motivate them to attend games because they are quite frankly bored for the vast majority of the season due to the lack of spectacle on offer.
