On the assumption that Fergie will get the coach award, do Wigan have a chance of the team of the year award at the Sports Personality of the Year Award ?
None of the major sports have had a team so dominant, and with Sam's profile getting good media attention and the RLWC having just finished, most of the sporting community will know who we are.

Ok ... but should we be in with a chance ?
apart from Sky Cycling Team (who have thrown oodles of cash at their sport and also had major funding from UK Sport via the Olympic cycling support), I cant think of any other real contenders.
The Lions beating a poor Aussie team would be a travesty if they were named, or the Welsh RU team who cant beat any one from the Southern Hemisphere. |

If a Lions team wins a series they do tend to get the vote. On a sporting scale though, their efforts are definitely not that special. Team Sky and Wigan have better pedigree from that persepective. |

You can't just create a made up team in order to win an award. For most fans, the two clubs can't stand each other. To then join together in order to win an award would be very desperate. |
