Quote jonah="jonah"Quite a while ago it was said that IL had an ambition to set up a museum dedicated to Wigan Rubgy. Does anyone know if this is still on the cards ? With his setting up of Central Park at the old pemberton middle school perhaps that could be an ideal place to have one. I for one think this would be a good idea to honour our past achievements and to honour the greats that have worn the shirt. There must be lots of items knocking around or items that could be loaned to create something of interest. If it where to happen I may be tempted to donate the last ever directional sign to Central Park that stood in the town centre. Been wrapped in bubble wrap all these years. Thoughts please.'"
I think the idea is a brilliant one, however Im not sure if 'Central Park' is the best location.
I think it would be fitting for not only local people to visit and learn about the clubs heritage but also visitors to the town who would more than likely visit the town centre as opposed to Montrose Avenue. The change of location by the club shop for example made much more sense and I would guess that more of a profit has been made as a result of the location.
On a side note I was told today that a number of items relating to the history of the club are currently on display at the History Shop in the town centre just by the Life Centre so that may be worth a visit for anyone interested.
