| Leigh have just announced the permanent signature of Tom, for 2014. I realise he was well down the pecking order at Wigan, but the lad is hugely popular at Leigh for his 100% commitment, whilst on D/C. We have had others on D/C (not just from Wigan) who have been 'less than 100% committed', but Tom has never shirked anything. I guess I'm a bit surprised that he didn't get more opportunities at Wigan, especially during your forwards injury crisis in 2013.

| Sorry to see him go but not surprised.
As said, when he wasn't recalled earlier in the season it looked at though his days at Wigan were numbered.
Hope he goes well for Leigh and himself.

| Suprises me this, when I learned he had the bench press record at Wigan I thought he was going to be a beast. He's obviously got the strength.

| It's a shame this, I thought he was a decent player. Mind you there are quite a few players ahead of him in the pecking order. Hope this isn't because we've signed Clubb (if we have)

Trying to work out if this is a serious comment or not...I really don't see the conversion of his bench pressing ability to playing Rugby League, next I'll be hearing we only ever had Gary Connolly because he was the best arm wrestler in the area...
Good luck to Tom though, maybe we can get him back in a few years if he can increase his deadlift numbers.

Obviously I don't mean "he's strong as hell he must be a cracking rugby player!" That would be redundant. I meant he's clearly a very strong, powerful bloke (something that does help in being a front rower) so he must be lacking elsewhere.

I've heard SW be critical of his basic skills, ball handling etc. He always looked like one of those players who could have an error in them at any point.

| As a post script, Tom last night won the 'Leigh Life' (i.e. the fans) player of the year award - something I would think is quite rare for a dual contract player.
And, in answer to the comments that SW perhaps saw gaps in Tom's range of skills, perhaps his new coach will be able to address this, and succeed where SW didn't?

| I'm not convinced he was given enough opportunity at Wigan but you have to admit they don't get much wrong so good luck to him at Leigh.

Handling errors killed his momentum on any chances he got for us. He knocked on with his first touch on debut at Langtree park on Good Friday 2012 and that seemed a theme of his brief appearances.
He had a cracking game at HKR on Easter Monday this year in the 84-6 win over HKR but who didn't I suppose. I back the clubs judgement on this, they get very few wrong when it comes to releasing young players.
