Bit concerning if he does leave so early in terms of his motives to join us in the first place and our reasons to recruit him.

His motive was money (as is most people's in a job) , he had no job and needed one. At least thats what he eluded to at a recent forum.

I would of thought that part of his motive was to also keep away from Noble unless people got that one wrong? So suspect that Salford have all of a sudden decided to offer Long more money?

All a bit strange....particularly when Wigan have just funded his recent trip to Australia to spend time in the Origin camp.

Knowing Long, it wouldn't be strange from his POV, given his past antics.

Remember when he abandoned GB mid-way through, and when he got home was the only person on Earth who was surprised that his actions were being criticised?

I think most people assumed he left Salford because of Noble, he didnt mention it directly at the forum I was at but he did say when asked why he wasn't at Saints that he'd "not be offered a role" and he needed a job.. which suggests he didnt have one at Salford ... Longy is Longy though and I suspect trying to make sense of the way he thinks and does things is impossible

He proved at Salford he was a good coach.
The begining of last season their backs and half backs were far better than we've seen at Salford for years.
Matty Smith improved to such an extent we signed him.
