There has been a serious crash at Junction 32A on M62. Would advise finding an alternative way if you are coming to Hull for tonight's match. Travel safely everyone.

M62 is reported as being closed around junction 32 (Pontefract) until 6 p.m.due to a serious road accident.

There are already queues of more than an hour back to Leeds for those going East which are only going to get worse.

For anyone coming - leave now, get off at Bradford onto the M606 work your way around North Leeds and go down the A1M to get back on the M62.

The more info coming out the worst it sounds - Air and normal ambulances parked on eastbound M62.

They've just re-opened all lanes on the east bound carraigeway, however, traffic is queued back about 10 miles. I'd guess it's roundabout this time that traffic will start to increase with school's finishing for the day, then people on their way home from work and so on, I'd imagine it won't improve any time soon so an alternative route would be advisable.

Travel news is suggesting M1 then M18 (M1 being J29 of the M62) as a way to get around it but I don't know if this is feasible when coming over from Wigan?

EDIT - by feasible I mean I don't know if that will be helpful for people if they don't know their way around the area.

Best route i can find is to go onto the m60, get off on the m67 [Denton] then get on the A628 toward the M1. it's about 30 miles further but misses the M62 completely.

although in the scheme of things probably not the worst, it's the one the world & his wife will be using though. from Wigan I'd go up to the M65 then A59 & hit the M1 just before York - from memory i think the a59 over the top is dual-carriage for long stretches

It might be a little late for people to change their plans, but I've just driven home on the eastbound m62, I leave at j32 which is just before where the accident was, and there was no queue or delay at all, if anything it was better than a 'normal' Friday.
