| For me he is doing a great job. He is rebuilding the side whilst keeping us competing at the top of the table, which isn't easy to do at all. I would like to see him get a new 5 year deal. I have no doubt he will prove a top class coach and this might stop England poaching him when McNamara fails miserably in the world cup.
The downside would probably be Iestyn Harris moving elsewhere for a head coach role but I could live with that

I wouldn't be so sure, I have a feeling a lot of our flowing attacking this year may be down to Iestyn's work.

| Five year deal is a bit steep. I'd play our cards close to our chest and see how this season pans out.
Credit where due though. He's doing a very good job at the moment.

| He's still got a lot to learn but he's doing ok.
A lof people don't seem to want to see sense with Wane. Some people on here have blinkers and it's either black or white.
He's a relative newbie as head coach and as you can imagine for someone of that level there have been good and bad points.
I have to admit the one point i'm not still not overly happy with him on is his media handling. I cringe sometimes at the things he says and sometimes i'd rather it be kept in house like Madge used to do. A perfect example are the recent Gelling comments in the week;
Quote: [/i:i83nwx4g]'" :i83nwx4g]
Short and to the point whilst keeping actual details or specifics in house and between player and coach. "[iGelling finished his two tries (against Wakefield) really well but he dropped two kick-offs, and that’s not acceptable to me.
“He needs to concentrate and once I see him concentrating there’s a chance he can come back in.[/i'"
For me that sort of bluntness should be done behind closed doors. Mainly because it's hard enough winning over some of the crackpot Wigan fans as it is. Gelling doesn't have the luxury of being born under a WN post code which is what some of our 'fans' seem to regard as a must.
A perfect example of Madge just saying what he needs to do in a similar situation where he dropped Crocker;
Quote: [/i:i83nwx4g]'" :i83nwx4g]
Short and to the point whilst keeping actual details or specifics in house and between player and coach. "[i''Michael understands that it is all about our performances each week,'' Maguire said. ''I have got a great squad and they judge themselves on how they are playing."[/i'"
Short and to the point whilst keeping actual details or specifics in house and between player and coach.

| I prefer bluntness rather than spin doctory any day.
Shaun should be himself, not what other people think he should be.

Nothing to do with spin you just don't openly slate players in the press.
Again we all knew Madge didn't get on with Feka but I can't remember him going into detail like Wane does. I also remember Madge had issues with Liam Farrell and his physicality in the tackle.
Time and place.

| He's performing above expectation at the moment.
I'd be more then happy to see us offer him 2 years now or if we wait until October and see how we finish up that could potentially rise to 3 or 4 years if we win something.

Not in my eyes. I expected him to be good.

Not really slating, just identifying weaknessess, which are hardly a secret. I like his openness, especially compared to most of the other coaches, with their empty cliches every week.

| I wasn't convinced with him last year. He failed to win our big games and all of our close games bar Hull KR away. He also only seemed to be interested in developing forwards. This season he seems to be putting a lot of that right. I'd like to see us turn over Warrington or get to a final to really convince me though. Also, as already said, no need to slate Gelling in the press like that, do it behind closed doors Shaun!

He could say, We are putting humpty dumpty together again like some, he could say nothing like others, but he is who he is. I would rather him be himself than try to be something he is not.
Contract wise, I would like to see the all the current first team coaches stay for at least one more year.

This sums up the sad state of the game to judge a coach on a few games of an after season competition.
