Just read something about this and many people in Australia wanting to have this introduced, similar to cricket and tennis where the players can challenge the decisions of the officials
Cant quite see how it would work in RL, but is it something that should be looked at in trial matches or freindlies over here to see how it goes ?
I'll get in first about the standard of refs this year, there would be a lot of challenges !

no
rugby league is about discipline and respect for officials.
kids are coached that from a young age.
Changing it would undermine the officials and lead eventually to a lack of respect.

Would be a good idea to trial it.
In Aus they can challenge refs decisions though they cannot challenge a video ref decision or a forward pass.
I've no problem with respect for officials, they are ok with that in cricket and tennis and maybe two challenges a game like they have in an innings of cricket.
Would get around the issue of numerous wrong decisions in games which affect both scores and results.

They have soemthing similar in the NFL along with booth reviews and they have no issues with respect for the officials

they did a trial game in aus using this a team can only challenge 1 decision unsuccessfully a half be interesting to see how it went

Trouble is - You would HAVE to have a VR at every game to allow this to happen.
Never happen here, as tiny/skint teams will object to having to pay for VR coverage.

LOL Not true there is so much technology available now a challenge could be made and a tablet / laptop used for the ref to view it on. only added experience would be the tablet, remember micron or the company used by the club could feed that info direct to the tablet / laptop

Not really true that, is it?
Micron only take 1 camera to a game, which is nowhere near enough for this type of system to work.

Even if it's only in games with a VR, it's better than nothing - I like the idea, it works well in cricket (when, again, it's only in televised games).

Yet its enough for the rfl to use for players put on report? im not talking trys but in game pens which i thought this thread was about.
they actually use 2 one wide and one tight, or did for one season, I know this as my dad does the warrington games and micron do opposition so are often next to each other
