I attended the 20's game on saturday and wish id never bothered, the wakefield fans up there dont deserve to be called rugby league fans, i amost though id entered the wrong stadium and attended a wigan athletic match, the foul mouthed abuse the referee got and our lads was dispicable! I really think that Wakefield should be heavily fined for this because their own coach was egging the fans on by showing no respect at all to the referees decisions and the majority of the time the penalties Wigan recieved were simply down to ill discipline and can only be blamed on the Wakefield coaching staff. We lost the match through too many errors and lack of teamwork (too much one man rugby again) but the fans didnt help the game at all and i certainly wont be attending their ground again!

The coach seems to be like that every week i cant understand how he hasnt been disaplined

I was there also and fully agree what's been said . The ref is putting an official complaint in so I have been told , rightly so I say. I have never had to deal with such an hostile crowd . I won't be going again also

You would think that they would reign it in, ticket sales should be one of their main priorities surely?

Any ref who gives the away team 21 penalties and sin-bins 2 of the home team is going to get some stick. Same would happen at any ground.

I remember watching your u20s get beat at home by Warrington and the local octagenarians were giving the ref all kinds of stick.

Ok In some ways you have a point, but let me just remind you it wasnt just stick he and the wigan lads were recieving there was chants about him breaking his leg and abusive language, weve always promoted respect in our sport that goes for the ref and the lads who pull their tripe out on the field why should the rules be any different for the Wakefield Fans??? Also a few of the parents where egging on their own players to punch the wigan lads, 21 penalties were all deserved thats not a biased opinion just an honest one your lads where ill disciplined, gobbing off to the ref leading with the elbow and punching players in the tackle all of these things are breaking the rules so why do you think that they was undeserved??? because it beats my logic.

I was stood with my missus on the balcony behind the sticks for the first half. The abuse aimed at the ref and the Wigan players was relentless and the language was colourful to say the least, so much so that we moved to the half way line for the second half, though it wasnt much better there. Im all for a bit of banter at a game, but this was personal abuse aimed both at the referee and the players. What has ridiculing the appearance of the ref or calling a young Wigan player a fat b*****d have to do with the game.

The Wakefield players themselves were also a disgrace, leading with their elbows, swinging arms in the tackle and constantly giving verbals to the ref. There again when their coach comes running on the pitch at half time and starts giving it to the ref whilst still on the pitch, what can you expect.

Regarding the comment about the ref getting sticking by Wigan fans, I have been going to Orrell to watch the young lads for several years, yes the refs do get stick, they expect it, but I have never heard anything like what happened on Saturday, it was something totally different, verging on hatred of the ref and the opposition and was very disturbing to hear.
