Good to see that clip at the beginning of Michael Aspel presenting his big red This Is Your Life book to Dean Bell on the pitch after a game. I remember the announcer kept telling people to stay behind after the match and it seemed everyone on the terrace on the Popular side knew what was going on.
I do wish they'd throw a bit more old footage into these programmes.

Good find ,takes me back. Reminds you of how big the Wigan club were back then when the captain appeared on what was then one of the most popular shows on national tv( a time when we only had 4 channels). Seem to remember a short time after the team appeared on the bbc personality of the year

My everlasting memory of Dean Bell in a Wigan shirt is from the 1993 cup final. After the lap of honour he just stood in front of the Wigan end and slowly took all the strapping off his wrists etc before putting both arms in the air and getting a massive massive roar. My Dad always says its the best working of a crowd he's ever seen.

Just watching the 'This Is Your Life' video...........had to laugh at those glasses that Shaun Wane is wearing

and that's before I got to his haircut.
