Same front six to start perhaps, er how many through our system, er just the six, I think they will find the Foreign Legions will be coming over the hill in numbers. ( with plastic sheep )

its almost as funny as northhampton saint trying to argue player for player st helens are better and the only reason we won is because of maguire coaching last season.

on a side note alot of fans from other teams are really trying to put a downer or some kind of spin on anything we are good at lately, such as leeds fans getting annoyed that we are playing better than them this season or example above (northhampton saint) or hudds trying to say we have no british talent. warrington fans have piped down abit this season, tho probably not after beating catalans. i guess it just shows they are feeling treatend by wigan this season.

It's amazing the chip some of the Giants fans have on their shoulders! You'd think a club that was propping up the league for years on end would have a bit more respect for a club like Wigan who've actually played a huge part in getting them to where they are now. Some of their best players are Wigan produced and their best youngsters are produced by other clubs. It's great to see them giving English players a chance but it's laughable if they truely believe they're some sort of machine churning out local Huddersfield juniors!

We don't need to defend our policy as our line up speaks for itself!

It's just a statement of fact. Over the years Wigan have had many foreign players. It's not having a go at the youth development system at Wigan. i'm sure many other teams fans have that view.

For example when was the last time Wigan fielded a 1-13 of Uk players ? I tried to think about that one and had to back to late 1982 maybe before Graeme West arrived. I can come up with (but this is based on memory so may not be correct).

We fielded an all English 1-13 against Manly. Westy was on the bench but never came on.

Excellent I was at the Manly game and didn't recall that.

That's still 25 years ago (rather Worryingly - seems much more recent).

Some of the crap that people come out with about us is priceless.

who cares how many overseas players we have as long as we play by the rules of the RFL. If we can have 5 and they good enough to pull on the Cherry and White jersey then play them. Teams have to play to a salary cap, if this means having to find overseas players to fill certain positions because a) our own young players are not quite ready for superleague. b) there are no UK based players available as they are under contract elsewhere or c) The UK based players available want too much as a salary and will not fit in team under the cap.
Remember that the management team are in place to put the best squad on the field they can, not to appease someone else's fans who only have 4 players from their own academy in the players listed by squad no. 1 - 20


Is it our fault we produce more Academy players that get to superleague level than we can accommodate in the squad due to salary cap and the player wanting regular 1st team games

I have only one question in reply:

Why the hell WOULD we field an "all English 1-13 or 1-17" other than for injury reasons?

The rules of the comp allow a certain number of overseas players and we work within those rules.

If a player that we can get from abroad is better than a (usually far mor expensive) UK equivalent, then we have a DUTY to go for that player before considering the UK guy.

Wigan play RL to win - We do NOT play "for the good of UK players".

Please tell me who we should replace Finchy with, right now, who is English?

Why on earth would Hudds fans criticise a Wigan team that uses foreign players within the rules of the game ?

With the crowd they had at the weekend, they ought to be criticising their own fans, or lack of them, for not turning up.

What was their attendance at the weekend ?

You'd think they had 'enough on their plate' without criticising others.
