| As the topic says.
Does anyone know of a cheap(ish) way for me and my daughter to get to the Catalans match?
I couldn't be there more than a couple of nights and don't fancy driving 2,072 miles, so it would have to be flights.
I don't mind driving to just about any UK airport, but never having been there, I don't know where's good to fly to.
Direct to Perpignan is over £300 each, so that's out.
Would love to go if I can sort this out.
Thanks

In addition, I know a cheap Hotel Chain in Montpellier. We stayed with these as stopovers during our camping holidays last summer, similar to a Premier Inn.
Twin room - 39 euros per night.
Checked: 3 x nights available in Montpelier (dates as above).

| If you fancy making a bit of a holiday out of it and extended your stay another couple of days (depart Weds 13th), your flights would be £73.96 return for 1 adult and 1 child.

| @Engine Man - Who's that with?
Checked Ryan Air, but that flight is about £168
Actually, I think I found it @ £83 each.
How much is the train from Nimes to Montpellier?
That's looking like a good option.

| Ryanair sorry.1755 and back at 1730 Monday. I've just looked its still on at £83.98 return. There's no taxes to pay at the moment that's why it's cheaper. Wigan to Birmingham international station is currently £27 return 1330 from Wigan and 2038 return Monday night. That's if you book it in advance with the virgin trains app. Liverpool to Nimes £67.98 return. Don't forget £12 booking fee per person . But still both good value. It's a good opportunity for Wigan fans to get there for a reasonable price. It's gonna be a great game.

The train is about £10-15 return from memory, it's been a couple of years since I did this run. There's a cheap bus from Nimes airport to the station in Nimes - I would guess the transfer is about 20mins and the train journey around 30 mins.
fortunately SNCF have a UK website so you can check: www.sncf.co.uk/
If you wanted to make a long weekend out of it there's a Monday & Friday flight from Manchester to Beziers which is about the same distance from Montpellier but to the west.

| OK. Last questions (I think)
Seeing as the stadium is so far from Montpellier itself (at least it looks that way on Google Maps), where's best to stay?
I might just hire a car, so a bit of travelling is OK, both from Nimes Airport and to/from the game.
I need somewhere cheap(ish), but close to a beach somewhere would be nice for my daughter.

| First tip would be to go to Montpellier not Perpignan
Only messing, I'm on the Friday Liverpool-Nimes flight going out and Montpellier-Leeds/Bradford coming back. Would have got the return from nimes but was too expensive at the time I booked. Knew I should have been a bit more patient!
Stopping at the Ibis in centre comedie or whatever it's called. Ground was a tram ride away last year but not sure where the ground is this year. Would imagine you can get there by tram though.
As for what to do on the sunday....drink?

IIRC - It was around a tenner each way. Once in Montpellier use the tram system (to get to/from Stadium, to/from Hotel, to/from Beach). You can just hop on and off, didn't see a conductor checking / issuing travel tickets all weekend and most of the time we travelled free of charge.
