Quote FIOS="FIOS"When you say fev only had 1 penalty in the 2nd half after twenty minutes what are you trying to say? Are they entitled to more? Maybe Wigan just didn't do anything to give away more than 1 penalty then. Agree with the Sam knock on that should have been given but it hardly evens up the way the game was rEffed in a Wigan POV.'"
Basically Featherstone got two tries that never were, and Wigan had a perfectly good try ruled out because of that good old elastic obstruction rule, which seems to be applicable at the referee's discretion these days. So that evens up the Sam knock-on to some tune.
At the end of the day, I will never trust Silverwood again for allowing Hull KR another play-the-ball after the hooter had gone at the DW - and basically gifting them a vital try. That was one of the most suspicious pieces of refereeing I've ever seen, and his limp-wristed explanation afterwards, that he couldn't hear the hooter - how strange, the only man in 15,000 people - added insult to injury.
I'll freely admit that my heart sank when I saw it was him last night. I thought if there's any referee who'll be ready and willing to try and make this more of a contest, it'll be him. That said, Featherstone performed bravely, better than several SL teams we've played this season, and Wigan allowed themselves to be drawn into a sluggish forward battle. For me, it ultimately wasn't Silverwood's fault that it was a close-run thing.
