| Afternoon guys and gals,
I imagine you saw the unfortunate incident that blackened Featherstone Rovers recent Challenge Cup success over our local rival's, Castleford Tigers. The dust has now settled, the pictures seen by most of the Rugby League family.
I'm writing on your fan page this evening to let you know about our efforts to help the lad, Tangi Ropati who suffered the injury. He faces a major loss in earnings as his visa states he can only earn a living playing Rugby League for Rovers.
A group of fans, including our mascot, Bluebeard, are participating in a 26 mile charity walk to raise funds for him. This walk is from The Shay, Halifax, back to the Big Fellas Stadium, Featherstone. This takes place on the 6th May.
Anyone who would like to pledge towards this cause. I am attending this Friday nights game. You won't miss me as I'm dressed in a Samoan/Hawaiian outfit, (More Hawaiian) Pink shirt, grass skirt and hat. I will have a collection bucket in hand. No contribution is too small, and I will be deeply grateful to any individual who gives the bucket a rattle.
The response from fans & players so far has been Fevulous
Thank you for your time taken to read this
All the best for the game, hope your enjoy your experience at our humble little home, and fingers crossed, come 2014, we may face one another in the Super League.
Thank you again

| I really feel for the lad. It was a horrible injury that didn't seem to be an accident. My question is, does he or the club not have insurance for this sort of thing?

| I have no evidence to say whether semi professional players have an insurance policy. It may be overlooked due to costs. It's Tangi's visa terms that have left him vulnerable. The player's at Featherstone contributed a percentage of there win bonus against Castleford, which was a great whip round to support him.
Either way, as most rugby families do, we have decided to help out ourselves.
Can't wait for the game, very strong line up from you guys, very respectful

| Rangie Chase should be giving some money towards Tangi's support.

| Loss of earnings in the form of compensation for criminal injuries should apply...the hit on him was beyond the laws of the game

| There are three mandatory insurance policies in place covering Public Liability, Personal Accident and Death by Natural Causes.
However it is recommended that players and clubs consider whether additional cover is appropriate for their own personal circumstances.
I'm just not sure, and after looking into this matter, I'm slightly concerned how safe semi professional players are. This incident doesn't happen week in week out, the game has cracked down on dangerous tackles, like chicken wing.
Tangi may have some sort of claim in place. The fans are concerned that if he doesn't have evidence of earnings through playing rugby league for Featherstone his visa may be brought into question :-/
Thank you for your well wishes

Featherstone Rovers - Co-Operative Championship League Leaders and Champions 2011: |

| I doubt Rangi Chase will give a penny, largely because he's a [BLEEP]
Ex Fev Favourite, Tony Tonks posted on facebook that the insurance is very difficult to get and only covers neck and back injuries, not a dirty little Cas [BLEEP] smashing your jaw.
Tangi has said that he will receive a small income from Fev, but I for one can't stand by and let a lad suffer like this, after becoming a Fev legend in such a short period of time. I've sent £100 of my meagre wages to help him.

What about a bucket collection at the game?

| I am my friend. The weather isn't looking in our favour for staying dry. Hopefully my straw hat with shelter me from the down pour. I've heard one of your fellow fans has sent a signed Tomkins shirt to be auctioned off after the game. I applaud that, as I will show my gratitude for each donation I recieve.
I've caught the bug a little with this charity walk. If, touch wood it never does, any of your cherry & whites is in need of some support, I will be more than help happy out.

He should auction off his MoS award for Ropati's benefit. He should never have won the award in the first place so this would do something to right that wrong and make some restitution to Ropati for the injury he suffered.

All us Wigan fans could have a whip-round and return it to its rightful owner
