Does he suffer from a lack of concentration with the easier kicks because he kicks them from the touch line but seems to miss the "easier" kicks.

Maybe he struggles with the pressure kicks.

Still, a 72% success rate isn't that bad for a back-up kicker, even if he does miss the "wrong" ones.

I think today was an ideal opportunity to see what sam could do myself.

However, if Josh hadn't missed the two sitters he'd have put in an excellent kicking performance today - so its not that worrying for me.

He strikes them sweet as a nut but for whatever reason keeps missing the odd easier one. It is hopefully just a concentration thing more then a pressure thing but him missing the only one that seemed semi important to make it 100 didn't bode well.

Like I say though he has a great natural talent for it and with practice he'll hopefully keep improving. He's had plenty of practice for Hull anyways should Richards miss out again.

Yeh he seemed to rush 2 easier ones which would have had him at 15/18 which is the 80+% you would expect from your no1 goalkicker. Think it's just technique problems and occasionally rushing it.

The key thing for me is that he is learning every time he takes the kicking duties on board.

Pat is not going to be around forever and to have a quality experienced kicker who can slip straight in to fill his boots within the squad ensures that we do not need to prioritise a kicker as our main transfer target when he does go.
