| Ryan Hoffman sings Sams praises (Sydney Morning Herald)
"Tomkins is another Billy on the boil - Hoff.
I have tried to put the story on as a link but my age is against me,but I am sure that someone with more knowledge than me will help me out.

I dont like that bit. The NRL take our best players and we take whats left over or not needed? No thanks Ryan

We need to get our own house in order, rather than complaining about player drain to the NRL.
If we as a sport can't afford to raise the SC after 15 years (meaning a real terms reduction in player pay of over 30%) then we have no right to whinge about players leaving British RL.

Absolutely, we as a sport need to act to keep our best players, like we did with Tomkins

I think this will also be something that McManus was alluding to as discussed in the thread about him saying the game has been mismanaged for years.

sorry mate, have to disagree, VERY VERY good player Slater maybe, but someone deemed the best in the world CAN'T make as many mistakes as Slater does.
Under pressure, he still has questions to answer.

Slater is suspect under pressure makes too many mistakes in big games and has always played in teams with great players. For me the best player in the world is Paul Gallen. He does 80mins every week more often in the front row and does it in club, international and origin. For me Gaz Hock could easily be this countries answer to Gallen. He's big enough to do a stint in front row during a game fit enough to play the full 80 at every level and can create opportunities for team mates off the back of hit ups with his offloads. But back to the point unless the salary cap is increased you can't blame players for goin to australia where as an english player who can't do origin and can't play internationally during the season they'd make more money playing fewer games.

Agreed. The general of foreign imports in Super League is generally quite poor. The Aussies over here largely just make up the numbers these days. We used to get the likes of Trent Barrett, Jamie Lyon, Matt King and Danny Buderus coming over here to play, current Oz internationals at the time they signed. Can't see that happening now
