| Basically, we lost the field-position battle.
We were always starting sets inside our own 10, being shown a masterclass in kicking by Brough, and by contrast our poor kicking was giving them decent field position every time. Their defence was well-organised, and going 90m to score was always going to be difficult.
Impressed by Lima & Mossop, but we lost a lot when Luaki and Flower came on. Hock was invisible apart from that one great break near the end. Not sure why Lima didn't come back on for his second spell till Mossop's injury right at the end.
The backs worked hard, but only really looked dangerous in brief flashes.
Silverwood was frustrating, as usual, but can't be blamed for the result; the best team won on the day.

| Nail on head.
They ran rings around us in the halves, but between them, the three-quarters still managed to fluff two or three certain tries.
As of today, I'm a lot more concerned about our perceived weaknesses - i.e. in the centres, and in the halfback/hooker interchange - than I was this time yesterday.

| 2 of the most talented hb's in the league and we're crying out for a halfback.
Can't express how disappointed with so much of that performance I am today.

| The kicking game was beyond dreadful. The crowd was applauding any kick that hit the ground at one point it was that bad.
It really does need addressing urgently.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| Ever seen a team win a trophy since the start of super league without a good kicking game? We won't win a thing this year unless we develop one from somewhere.

| The best ones (of a bad bunch) were Sam's, I'd like to see him or Pat getting the bulk of the long-range kicks, with Finch only getting the close-in attacking kicks. There was a period last season when Pat was putting up a lot of bombs, often successfully, but we seem to have gone away from that tactic, apart from one decent effort today.

| It was dreadful and was the major factor in us losing this game. I'd leave the majority of the kicking to Tomkins but Leuluai and Finch seem to take the lions share and that can't go on.
Finch looks like he's kicking with his wrong foot most of the time he looks that awkward.
I'd say give Powell a crack but it's a lot to ask of a 19 year old kid making his debut to be expected to take responsibility for a job as important as kicking.

| Our team is crying out for a kicker like Danny Brough, he was the difference today.

| This is a problem we have had for over three years. It has improved periodically but basically we have no decent tactical kicking game. I am getting fed up waiting for this problem to be fixed. Tommy and Finch are clueless. They have no tactical sense when it comes to kicking. They aim at the winger or full back which is crazy. Sam sometimes does little better. Unless they get this fixed up the season will be a long a frustrating one.

| Our kicking game would embarrass a pub team. Hudds deserved their win today, but in tight games like this you're playing with one arm tied behind your back if you've got nothing in the tactical kicking department. Unless it improves dramatically we're going to lose a lot of points because of a lack of quality kicking options. I can only think of one time Brough didn't find the ground today with his kick. It was the other way around with ours.
Looks like Deacon was our kicking game.

| Think we should reserve judgement for a few games yet, saying we will nothing might be a bit premature.
Kicking not great today, but we will improve.

| I do agree with what Wane said post match in that it wasn't necessarily the kickers doing badly but the team failing to set up for the kick on the fifth tackle.
Sam Powell has shown a good kicking game at academy level but even he seemed to struggle a little when playing in the first team.
We've already seen many times that Tomkins is a strong kicker when given space and the same goes for Finch.
It seems that on the fifth tackle someone just drives the ball in as normal and then the ball goes out to the kicker with little thought about position on the field or what type of kick would be best.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

| Kicking poor, some good moves that did not come off in 3/4's. Hudds played well, but neither team were fluid at all. I don't normally complain about refereeing team, but they were rusty too. Room for improvement all around. Did Finch look injured to anyone else, he did not look to be moving freely to me.
