If strength and conditioning as anything to do with staying fit I find this appointment a bit strange.
Paul Johnson has spent at least 60% of his career on the treatment table,I hope we are not getting into a situation of 'jobs for the boys'

So because he's had injuries, he's not able to help others with their fitness, surely if he had been one spending a lot of time on 'the treatment table' he would know more than most about strength and condition?
And besides, how can you make such a judgement, do you know what qualifications Paul has? He may very well be the best man for the job, and going off prior appointments I wouldn't bet against that being the case.

| Mentioned at the game on Friday I thought it was him.
Nice to see him back.

| The very best of luck to him.
I'll never forget turning up the JJB to see us play Halton Simms Cross in the CC, only to hear the terribly sad news about his brother.

Did you have these same doubts over the appointment of Shaun Wane, Kris Radlinski, Steve Hampson, Paul Deacon, etc?
Anyway, what constitutes 'the boys'? Is Paul Johnson an old mate of IL's? I doubt it somehow.
What I do suspect is that it's jobs for Wiganers who have proved their worth in the game. In which case, I heartily approve.

Cruncher,I tried to come back to Jeff but something went wrong when I submitted.
You seem to have taken umbrage with my jobs for the boys comment, if you have ,sorry.
My point was,he is inexperianced on guiding young players on fitness issues (of which he had a lot.
As for the jobs for the boys comment, you mention Wane,Rads,Hampo and Deacon but you did not mention the Harris,Bradford and Crusaders connection. Which is something which in my opinion is not going to work.
Cheers.

I take umbrage to negativity when there doesn't seem to be any need for it.
I've never understood this notion of 'jobs for the boys' unless it's plainly obvious that people who are not qualified are being appointed. As none of us have got access to Paul Johnson's CV, we can't just assume that he's one of these.
As for the Welsh connection, all we can do is see what happens. But looking further afield for British-based talent is something we'd all better get used to, because it's clear the day of the Anitpodean influx is over.
