Looks like we might be trying to continue the trend of halves at FB. Was hoping $hitty would partner Josh really. Never rated Goulding as a centre.

No me neither. I'd rather see Charnley centre and Goulding on wing if they went that way. |

That's actually a more exciting team then a full strength outfit would be because we know what guys like Tomkins and Leuluai can do whereas lads like Mellor, Powell and Logan Tomkins are a bit unknown.
I think it's very interesting to see those 3 starting the game. Is it possible it's a shoot out for one bench between those lads? I certainly think there's room for one of them if they have a stand out pre season.

that matthew russel is one to look out for hes always the stand out perfomer for the reserves, hes got speed that kid he will be giving tomkins a run for his money this year or next

Bench
Seeing that the bench only contains one back (Matty Russell),maybe Wayne is thinking along the following lines.
It gives him a chance to see how Mellor goes at fullback and to take a look at Finch and Powell in the halves
Then if things are going well at halftime it would give him the chance to have a look at Russell at fullback with Mellor at standoff so he could have a look at how he would go with Powell in the halves and give Finch a rest (he knows enough about Finch if things are going well).

On Radio Merseyside last night Wane said that Mellor was on the bench, so I would expect too see Russell starting at fullback.
Very pleased for Tom Spencer. I think he'll probably go out on dual reg but is certainly another one to keep a close watch on.

I'm looking forward to seeing gelling play this weekend. As others have said I hope wane swaps goulding and gelling around, I'd like to see a bit of a partnership built between gelling and charnley.
