According to a article on fox sports Tommy has signed for NZ Warriors 470 (at time of article) days before he can play for them. Is this something we should be looking at doing ? Replacing our leaving players before they've left.

IIRC the Barrett signing was made official around the start of the season before the one he came.

It was. They interviewed him in 2006 when it looked as though we'd go down and he said he would still come over and play in the Championship. Yeah OK Trent.

I'd hope to god Lockers has already been offered a 3/4 year contract.

The good thing is though we have a good core of players we can build a team around for the next few years - Sam, Lockers, Hock, Farrell, Charnley, Prescott, Mossop, & Hansen. Hopefully there will be a few more we can add to that list at the end of next year.

I would be more confortable with us making signings throughout 2012 for the 2013 season. It means everything is sorted in plenty of time, we will not have to pay over the odds like we did with DV.

However, this doesn't mean the club has to announce all the signings throughout 2012, they will tell us when they need to know and I am sure they will be looking for players throughout this season.

Definitely big changes needed - the talent will keep filtering through from the academy (especially in 2-3 years with the outstanding set of 16-18 yr olds we have but there's no doubt a fair bit of recruitment is needed next year.

Could have sworn Sean O'Loughlin signed a long term contract just a couple of years ago? Maybe it was longer ago than that and time has flown but surprised he's OOC.

I'd love to see O'Loughlin try his hand in Australia, he's got the skill set to succeed over there. Doubt it now though as he's 29 this time if not already.

Leuluai is going to be a massive loss and I would imagine you are trying to keep Finch.

It was nice while it lasted, MM as hooker this year with Tommy still here will be bad enough but when Tommy is gone we will be in dead lumber unless 1 or 2 players are brought in to cover Tommy position as well as lead hooker, MM simply ain't Wigan standard

Wigan 'must' prepare for his exit now. I'm sure the club know that and they've said as much so we must start to look around at possible options and get sounding them out. We can't afford to be sat here in 12 months saying we'll get by with Finch, McIlorum and the youngsters.

We have cracking youngsters but they will fulfill their potential by playing with players like Tommy Leuluai rather then replacing him.
