| As a Wiganer I've seen much success since 1982 when I started watching RL, yet over the same period of time seen GB/England fail in every Test Series / World Cup / 4 Nations tournament...normally against the Aussies every time.
Just what would it mean to you to see the home team finally win the 'holy grail' next week, something a team filled with stars 'Hanley/Edwards/Gregory(s)/Schofield/Lydon/Offiah' failed to manage time after time?

The players listed above as great great players but they was up against a great Aussie side in them days. I beleive that GB team would beat this current Aussie side and beat them easy.
While the current England time isn't blessed with superstars they are capable of beating IMO one of the worst defensive Aussie teams I've ever seen.
I'm also in the same boat as you, I've seen saints win everything but not seen my country win anything so it would mean a great deal to me and also, I hate Aussies!

| I would be happy because it will mean a much more succesful 2013 world-cup in this country. It would be a huge boost for RL in this country for England to win this comp, espcially after fails recently in RU and Football. English people like some success.
As for the win itself, I am not sure. I am not as big a fan of the national team as I used to be. As a Wigan fan I just feel seperate to the rest of Super League, I don't like being assoiciated with fans who boo their own players. Either way, I'm going to the final and I would like an England win, if not it should be a great occasion as the last game of Locky the legend.
I have lost most of my passion for England. I have been waiting for the team and the fans to give me a reason to change my views. Maybe Saturday will bring that.

| i think it will be more of what will it mean to rugby league in this country this 4nations has got alot more neturals talking than in previous years. People are starting to realise that rugby league is more entertaining than what the old gaurd of rugby union would want them to know.
But personally i would be as happy as i was when we won the grand final... sooner people realise that the international stage should be bigger and better supported than superleague the better; money will soon come in and there will be no more we dont have enough revenue to keep are players.

Don't let some booing idiots get in the way of supporting your country. They ain't real fans booing their own player.

| An awful lot as its about time we as a country showed our quality.
1. It would be great for RL and raising the profile helps us all.
2. I hate Aussies when it comes to sport.

Short sighted and it's a shame you feel that way.
If England can win the 4 Nations on Saturday it will help our game immensely.
The likes of Joel Tomkins would probably stay in the game if we had a strong international game.
Also the profile of the game would shoot up around the country I believe if we win.

| I'd be made up to finally get the monkey off our back, I reckon we have complex with beating the Aussies in a series.
If we win the tournament we will get some publicity in the mainstream media in the build up to the WC in 2013.
Plus I would love to beat the arrogant Aussies, send Lockyer home with a loss to the mighty England.
I don't care who a player plays for in an England shirt I back them to the hilt and cheer them on as I would the Wigan players, it takes my tinted glasses off and sees the player in a different light.
Come on England!!!!!!

| Thanks for asking this question! My dad first took me to watch the Kangaroos in '82 - I've been suffering like you all ever since. I was at Wembley in '90 and again in '92 - I can still see that gap opening up for Renouf. I got my ticket today and am quite giddy. But am trying to keep my feet on the ground - I was there in '05 when Lockyer tore us apart. Ten years ago me and my dad bought a bottle of single malt in Perth only to be opened when GB win the ashes. Ironically I'm now married to an Aussie and have two kids. My dad now has dementia and for the first time won't be going with me. Still I'll be wearing my GB jersey and will have the bottle ready - you never know...

don't get me wrong. I'd prefer England to win than AUS/NZ/CYM, but I just dont have any passion for the international game.
Let's be fair, the profile of the game wont shoot up at all if England win next week, we'll get a 10 second "oh and England RL won the 4 nations" at the end of the BBC Sport News bulletin, and that's it. Maybe a could of articles of same or shorter length in the national rag, same length in local rag...
Anyhoo, if we DO win next week, the RL world, with the exception of England, will all say the same "yea, but they wouldn't have won if Slater was playing".
