I'm happier than I thought I'd be.

Glad we've got ISC and Magners on board and very happy Bitcon is saying. Looking forward to our new coaching line up.

I'm not jumping out of my skin about signings though. I think we could aim a lot higher

Im absolutely fuming about JT possibly turning his back on his hometown team like judas, but thats nothing Wigan can control. A very sad day but if they dont want to play for Wigan they can get stuffed as far as im concerned.

Would like to see us sign another prop and DEFINITELY a centre.

If someone offered you that much money I'm sure you'd at the very least consider it.

Mate if someone offered me £100K to do a job i love and i know i love, or £300k to do something I might like, somewhere away from my family, I dont think i would. Theres interesting research done on motivation that suggests money is not the key motivator people think it is; its said that the biggest factor when regarding money is to take the issue of money off the table which £100k a year or more certainly does icon_smile.gif

Interesting video. Suppose he's got the right to be tempted. He could earn a living in a few years of Union.

Hope he stays though

With the money for JT, we could actually offer a transfer fee for a quality NRL centre. I'd take Kenny-Dowall certainly, plus as a Kiwi he'll still get rep honours here.

But could we pay him what he could earn in the NRL?

What's the rumpus, Tom? [quote="Pemps":1dso5atj]I can't confirm Bennett's exact words but I believe they were along the lines of "Strewth Ian, I wouldn't touch him with yours. He's a flammin' Gala". I have noticed you have posted similar throughout the last couple of days and i agree with the point i think your trying to make.

Even if we received 1 million from any proposed transfer, in the short term we will still be weaker as the we are bound into a very restrictive system that simply does not allow us to recoup a similar standard of player.

The situation stinks.

It's not quite a fair comparison, because there's a massive difference between a sporting job and a 'normal' job like you or I do. Realistically, he has a lot of uncertainty about how much he'll be earning past the age of 35 ( if he's lucky ), so the factors he needs to weigh up are different. Not saying he's right or wrong, just that I'd find it pretty hard to get seriously angry with the guy. He's bigger than me anyway icon_smile.gif

I'll be honest I think trophies may be difficult to come by in the next year or two but we're in an amazing place to really push on. The salary cap raising in Australia is really going to cut back superleague clubs options over here in terms of bringing top NRL players over so teams will do 2 things. One is panic and bring in second raters and the other is bring through their own young players from the u20's side.

We will go down the latter route (Well mainly although Lauaki tests that theory) and thats easily the best way to go. We will probably be followed down that route by clubs like Leeds, Saints and to a lesser extent Wire and thats why i'm positive. We have the best youngsters of those 4 clubs and it will ensure we stay near the top for a long while.

So regardless of what happens with Joel or further down the line Sam i'm confident we're set fair. We're going to see some new young faces next year and I think people will be happy. It may be a bit rocky for a few months but they'll get there.

Great post. Im certain that Wane will be a lot more willing to play youngsters from the academy than Madge ever was, which for me is not only an exciting prospect but would make any future success much more satisfactory

Link here for interest. You assume so. However, if the figures of £70 or £80K that have been bandied about as Joel's salary are true I would suggest that the issue is very firmly on the table for Joel, especially when he watches Amos Roberts put in another performance for the reserves.
