With a dignified difference.
Graham got sent off the pitch, put his hands up and apologised.
Vomkins stayed on the pitch, put 2 fingers up and denied it.
Double standards indeed.

I suppose if you make a regular habit of having babyish tantrums, then apolgies are the only way to go ... if you want to retain any level of respect outside of St Helens.
Tomkins, on the other hand, who didn't deny it at all and also voluntarily apologised (never mind, it sounded good when you said it), may feel that as he's only done this sort of thing once and to the people who booed him when he was representing their national side, that it doesn't mark him out as a complete wuss.

| Plus Tomkins was not seen by the ref putting 2 fingers up and Graham was seen by the ref throwing the ball away. That's the reason Sam was not sin binned and Graham was. I think Graham is a great player but he does get stroppy when things aren't going the way he wants them. I don't mind a player showing his disappointment when losing I.e. Grand Final but don't understand why he threw the medal away.why not give it to a STs fan..who would treasure it even of it was a losers medal

Glad somebody got that it. I read on Twitter (don't know how true it is) that after denying it, he claimed it was the 'v' for victory sign.

I never heard that, but have loved the whole, i don't know what anyone was talking about, and then the apologising before he was told too about something he didn't know he did.

| I think the whole point that is being made is other players get it wrong sometimes and make mistakes but unlike when Sam Tomkins does it there isn't a witch-hunt against them.
Tomkins isn't perfect and he makes mistakes but he's not the only one.

I would expect that had the Graham incident been on Television (a la tomkins) then there would have been the usual uproar on here and on the wire forum that there usually is when graham misbehaves.

Generally Wigan fans are amused by James Graham's tantrums. They are very funny.
Non-Wigan fans don't seem to be amused when Tomkins does something stupid. They build themselves up into a frenzy of self-righteous hatred, and pretences of shock that such heinous things like sticking up two fingers could possibly happen in their highly civilised world; coughing and spluttering at the travesty that has occurred when their side are beaten, yet again, by a performance inspired by the new risen Beelzebub devil-spawn himself....Sam Lucifer Tomkins.
And we Wigan fans chuckle once again. It's been a very enjoyable week on here.

I see what you mean in regards to the uproar vs amusement. The difference being like you said, graham has a tantrum, where tomkins was just a bad display of judgement/brain fart. I think if tomkins had a hissy fit like graham then the fans of other teams would have laughed it off, but he didn't and that is where there is difference between what he and graham do. The OP claims double standards, but as you have pointed out, Grahams hissy fits are funny, sam giving leeds fans the V's not so much, completely different incedents though that probably should not be compared with their varying reactions.

| every seen the film A time to kill?
during the suming up this statement this is said to the jury
"Can you see her? Her raped, beaten, broken body soaked in their urine, soaked in their semen, soaked in her blood, left to die. Can you see her? I want you to picture that little girl..................... Now imagine she's white."
Well now imagine Tomkins in a Wire shirt , Leeds or a Saints one when he gave the 2 fingers - shock horror you'd all want him to be made an example of.
Tomkins had to apologise - the evidence was there in HD and still on the BBC Iplayer - pity he did no man up to it with having to be shown the footage

So that makes grahams behaviour ok in your eyes... His behaviour on the pitch is digraceful week in and week out. But, has as been pointed out to you, other fans get on a high horse and attempt to take the moral high ground over Tomkins.... Take a good look at your own players behaviour, on and off the field, then come back and try not to make yourself look so one-eyed...
I won't hold my breath
And for your information i have refered to Sam as an annoying little git in the past in reference to his game. We are not all as one-eyed as you and many who like to post on here make out.

Don't spout such drivel. I think graham's behaviour on the field is pathetic also. I have never said otherwise, and not posted to lead you to believe as such.
I have seen the petulance of Lee Briers over the years and he has since cut much of it out. Sam has not yet, but i'm sure he will grow up soon.
My point was that there was not as much uproar over graham's hissy fit this week because only the saints and salford fans saw it, no-one else has seen it yet. So we can't comment, i hate when players throw the ball away in a fit, but would much prefer that to giving the V's to the Fans and TV.
A lot of you need to get over Tomkins, many of you make out he is the best young fullback in the world besides Slater. But there are more FB's in the NRL that make Sam look rubbish. And they are doing it in the best league in the world, not the second rate league. No this isn't jealousy, because i know sam is a great player, but i think just because he is yours you think he is the best thing since sliced bread, where as if he was in another team's jersey you would just say he's good. If i were to be jealous of anyone, it would be the likes of NZ Warriors with Kevin Locke, Penrith with Lachlan Coote or even Wests Tigers with TIm Moltzen.
