39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| The 89 away shirt is the one with irregular hoops. I have one from the club.
You are thinking of the cantebury style shirt.
Pemps did them but don't think he does anymore.

[quote="headhunter":lnxdgxk2]Union people are idiots. They almost universally accept that league is a better, faster game played by better athletes, yet for some reason they continue to disregard and belittle it. That game is tedious as hell from start to finish. If he'd ever played or even bothered to give more than a fleeting chance to league he would realise that the game is far more 'technical' than Union ever could be. Booting the ball into touch, scrummaging and forming rucks and mauls aren't areas that involve any skill, technique or mental capacity whatsoever. These are clumsy, outdated facets of the game that are also extremely uninteresting to watch and thus have to be defended in some way by people who are too prejudiced to see the truth.[/quote:lnxdgxk2]: |

| Does anyone think the club should commission a new shirt as a wembley kit like the one we had in 89 that sells in the shop.
Doesnt necessarily need to be like that, but something in simple proper cherry and white hoops would be nice and save us playing at wembley in our current kack shirt.
Could be a massive marketing opportunity particulary if we won....could be able to sell the shirt for the next 20 years like the 89 one?

great idea. doubt it will happen, sadly.
tbh i'd prefer us to wear our normal shirt. keep as much as possible constant for the players...

Unless they are already produced(which I doubt) theres no way we'll have a special kit for the final unless its a Kooga stock shirt. They had a few months to produce the shirts for the WCC and the quality on the fans shirts are pretty poor(stitching). If we we're keeping Kooga for next year there would of possibly been a chance to rush the home kit for next season through and then replace it in time for 2012, seeing as we'll be having a new supplier thats a non-starter.
Personally the current home kit has grown on me, I would say it'll go down as an all time favourite but if its the shirt we win the double in that could change .

The Canterbury style shirt was indeed our away top at the time, but Wigan reverted to their traditional hoops for that match only. The reasons being that the canterbury style top, being mostly white, clashed with Saints' mostly white shirts.
Take a look at the Good Friday game from 1986 - you've a job to tell the teams apart.

We used to do that quite a lot but that was when the CC Final was the last game of the season. We would play in next seasons shirt. I remember us doing it with that weird Puma shirt in the CC Final against Leeds in 93, when Offiah went the full length. That was the first game we wore that shirt and there was a big unveiling event for it a couple of days before the game. All we get these days is a picture of Lockers in the new kit on the club website lol

| The 89 CC final shirt is on sale in Warriors World and on the website under retro! It was the one when Hanley tore Saints apart and we won 27-0

Correct, the kit for the final was chosen by the then coach Graham Lowe, he visited the Umbro factory and choose what he thought was a blue/white shirt only to be told by a club official who had travelled with him that it was in fact purple/white, he then discovered that Lowe was colour blind and couldn't tell the difference !!!
