WTF is going on with the BBC and the challenge cup at the minute.....and why are we accepting it. For me, the RFL shouldnt sell the CC to the BBC again if we get this treatment. Saturday was BBC1 Sunday was always BBC2 but now we've been relegated to BBC2 again for both the quarters and semi finals!!

Can you imagine them doing that for kick and clap or even championship soccer?! No reason whatsoever for the game to be put on BBC2 -this weekend they chose to put 'Cars' on over a wire wigan quarter final and next week it will be friggin murder she wrote or my family, or whatever dross they usually put on in non northern regions rather than give RL a gig.

Is the final at wembley going to be on BBC2, because if it is it should be the final straw!! Grow some balls RFL for gods sake - We either have Challenge cup on BBC1 and a national super league show or withdraw the rights and give them someone who will at least take us seriously!

Does it make any difference whatsoever?

Both freeview channels, both available to all and on the BBC website.

What did BBC2 do to you?

I personally would be prepared to lower myself to channel 5 to watch some high quality RL.

I don't see a problem.

My only problem was the lack of HD

This argument pops up numerous times and still to this day i don't get it, we all have freeview now, if they put rugby on QVC it wouldn't bother me.

What's special about BBC1, seriously i would love an answer on this?

BBC1 is the most watched channel nationwide. That's what's so special about it. If the rugby was on QVC, we'd know about it but no one else would. We can't be so parochial otherwise the sport would die on its 'arris.

We just want a fair crack of the whip. Sticking us on BBC2 with next to no promotion isn't fair. No one is going to watch on the off-chance while flicking through the channels. Compare that to the promotion something like the 6 nations gets every January and the unfairness becomes even more apparent. Channel 5 would be a non-starter as the only time anyone watches that (sport-wise) is for the Europa League soccer.

It's down to the RFL to market it though, not a publicly funded broadcaster.

It makes no odds to me what channel it's on as I'll be there, but if they RFL put 200 billboards up around the place, do you honestly think it saying BBC2 instead of BBC1 will make any difference to a potential viewer?

I don't.

I agree with promotion but BBC1 is only the most watched because Eastenders is on it, 1,2 or even 3 i wouldn't care, put it on ITV or 4 and we may get the promotion.

I'm sure people plan what they want to watch and don't just stick it on BBC1 and hope they enjoy everything that they put on that day.

Bloody rugby fans always moaning about something.

I take your point, but a bit of help from the BBC wouldn't go amiss.

As I say, of course we'd be there as we already know when and where the games are. But if BBC2 was just as good as BBC1 then why do shows like Weakest Link, Miranda and Pointless get moved from 2 to 1 as they become more popular?

The only problem I can see is that BBC2 has no HD variation but surely that isnt the end of the world?

It would have been nice to come home and watch the replay recorded on sky+ in HD rather than SD but it beats not being on at all. I do agree to an extent though that we should be on BBC1 on at least 1 day or if not shown on the BBCHD channel rather than Drama re-runs seeing as Cars will have been on BBC1HD. Sure it was just an oversight and nothing intentional.

Probably will be on BBC1 but if the grand prix is on and practice overruns expect the RL coverage to be cut short...AGAIN!!!

Isn't the BBC HD channel different to BBC1 anyway? The game could be on BBC2 and still in HD.

Regards the promotion I agree. BBC have the odd advert in between programs. Around January/February this will be about the 6 nations or FA Cup. What is stopping them advertising the upcoming CC game?

Normally I hate sport on ITV but at least they'd advertise it.

It's not that long ago with one match, they had the first half on BBC1, and the second half on BBC2. icon_biggrin.gifEPRESSED:

The BBC are dire where RL is concerned.

None of the RL matches will actually be in HD, even if they are on a BBC HD channel - they will still be in SD.
