Because the crowd think he's an imposter, as there is no p in the name on the back of his shirt?

I like all this pantomime stuff. Next time an opposition player is on an 80 metre dash and Tomkins is chasing him the crowd should shout ‘HE’S BEHIND YOU!'.

Just keep it up Sam. The day they stop booing you is the day you're not doing your job properly. They can boo till they turn blue in the face - it wont (and never has) bothered Tomkins. In fact, I think it's quite cute. All the "cheat, cheat, cheat" and incessant. boos. N'awww bless.

Two occasions stick out for me with Tomkins. Castleford away in the Noble era. Mitchell Sargeant, the blonde haired prop that played for Castleford took Tomkins high and late. Nasty challenge. Tomkins was getting stick throughout the match from players/fans. He scored a hat-trick and won Wigan the game.

Leeds away. Leeds fans cheering every time he got tackled. Kept the booing up right throughout the match - along with many "Sam Tomkins you're a w*nker" chants. Sure enough - Sam scores a beautiful individual solo try, sets up another, sets us up in a position to win the match and kicks a goal after the final hooter to pinch a point.

That's what the lad is all about and that is the real reason fans boo him. They all sh-t a brick every time he touches the ball.
