| Griffin is contracted till 2012. Transfer fee? Leaving early? Not sure where the rumours have come from.

| Again, I don't see the need. He'll be a first team prop, so who out of Fielden/Lima/Mossop/Prescott would you leave out?
But if we're going to be after a new prop, let's not get one who's 30 and will demand a good wage. Lima + Fielden can provide the old heads, and Prescott isn't exactly inexperienced!

He's out of contract at the end of the season apparently?

| The Huddersfield fans says it's the end of next year when his deal runs out but do admit he's not always seen eye to eye with Nathan Brown. Maybe him staying for an extra year has had an impact of Griffins preference.
I also believe it was in the league weekly that Griffin wanted to move over Lancashire way for some reason. That seemed strange considering he's from down south iirc.

Unless they're something in this like the above. Personal reasons why he wants to move. He was born in Oxfordshire (according to wikipedia).

I can see the angle you're coming from, but look at it another way. The current situation we're in we're missing Coley and Fielden. So next season say the same happens and we find ourselves missing Fielden and Lima. That just leaves Prescott and Mossop. Gareth Hock might have to fill in at prop and Dom Crosby would earn a bench spot, but someone would have to cover at second row to replace Hock etc Our depth is severely depleted with Joel Tomkins (centre) Hoffman and Coley (leaving) out of the pack. Signing Griffin makes sense for me. This year we have five senior props competing for four places - an ideal position.
The argument that people can throw back at you is that we should give Dom Crosby and Ben Davies the chance. Hard to come back to that, but it's difficult for young props to perform consistently in Super League. Ben Davies last season looked out of his depth for example and he's one of the most promising English forwards according to many people. I think young props you have to persist with. Paul Prescott an excellent example. A few years ago we were debating whether he had a future at Wigan and now we'd all be happy to see him tied down on a long-term deal! Dual registration for Ben Davies (21) and Dom Crosby (19, 20?) for another couple of seasons as they both mature and get accustomed to playing against bigger opposition than in the U20's.
As for Griffin's age well that doesn't concern me as a prop. He's the right side of 30 and props tend to reach their peak around this age. He's come into international honours and is doing an excellent job with Huddersfield so there's no doubt about his performance levels. His injury record is good as far as I'm aware. His wage will be covered with Andy Coley and Ryan Hoffman leaving the pack. We'll have plenty of space on the salary cap.
I'd be very pleased if we signed him on a two-year deal.

He'll be able to catch a lift off Lenegan then.

| Griffin and his family live in and around Wakefield, both his younger brothers are signed with Wakefield.
In relation to him as a player I like him, he is big strong aggressive player, and would continue to give us depth and experience in the front row. My concerns with him as a player are that he does seem to fall out with a lot of his coaches and team mates.
I understood we we looking at him a few years back when his last contract was coming to an end, not heard anything since.

| Griffin is a good player from what i have seen and would be a good addition to our prop department. We need two battle hardened props in the team every week imo so with Coley leaving he would be a good replacement.

Possibly because at the time he wasnt.
He is a player who has come on leaps and bounds this season. At the time we were really lacking in the forwards and the Lima signing was just a rummor.
We dont need a world class forward atm, just a grafter who likes the hard work. Griffin now fits that mold.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

It depends what the situation is with JT, do they think he will stay at centre. Apparently we are chasing King according to a few on here. I would be happy to go into next season with King and JT at centre.
I really hope Carmont changes his mind though.
