Maguire doesn't make excuses or complain so that's probably why.

| Maybe 4000 wigan fans at Crusaders didn't make themselves heard enough with "the referees a w****r" and "you're not fit to referee". Perhaps Scummings needs to hear it from a larger crowd... I'm sure 16'000 should make the feelings clear!

Because that jinx is over! Now weve got Child who doesn't know the rules. I thought Alibert was bad early season but this guy!

[quote="headhunter":lnxdgxk2]Union people are idiots. They almost universally accept that league is a better, faster game played by better athletes, yet for some reason they continue to disregard and belittle it. That game is tedious as hell from start to finish. If he'd ever played or even bothered to give more than a fleeting chance to league he would realise that the game is far more 'technical' than Union ever could be. Booting the ball into touch, scrummaging and forming rucks and mauls aren't areas that involve any skill, technique or mental capacity whatsoever. These are clumsy, outdated facets of the game that are also extremely uninteresting to watch and thus have to be defended in some way by people who are too prejudiced to see the truth.[/quote:lnxdgxk2]: |

| The real problem is the t055er at the top - Can you imagine how much better the standard of refereeing would be in this country had Russell Smith got the gig rather than going down under? We needed a top class refereee as referees' controller but what did we get - akin to the Alibert / Child of his day - Stuart Bl00dy Cummings!!

Needs to be Ganson. He isnt the best ref but hes the only one that tells players to stop messing about and thats something they ALL need to start doing. I hate it when leeds do it and I hate it when Sam does it too but thats only because it annoys me when the other teams do it and I feel immoral enjoying a Wigan player do it.

| Watched the Aus v New Zealand game, first penalty was late in the second half, the game flowed and was a cracking advert for RL.
Perhaps players are a little more disciplined down under, but referees dont let players milk penalties all the time. Perhaps we need 2 refs, one with experience to mentor younger ones, just as long as one isn't Chlds, I'll be happy

Wasn't Silverwood the ref in that game?

Been saying this for a while after watching the NRL games on Premier Sports. Think it works better with the 2 refs system really but just by allowing an extra second at the PTB allows the game to flow much better. Obviously if its scrappy and players falling over and getting in the way or having a deliberate second effort to slow the play down then its a penalty but often the refs here listen to the crowd shouting and blow up too soon, resulting in a very stop-start game which isnt what RL should be about. Silverwood reffed the Aus/NZ game excellently last week I thought.
