Quote: I personally would really like to thank Chris for his services over the past three seasons, everybody here at the club has thoroughly enjoyed working with him.

Both on and off the field Chris has always acted like a true professional, he has left many happy memories and will do for years to come.
"Warrington Wolves are pleased to announce the signing of former Canberra Raiders and Australian International three-quarter Joel Monaghan on a one year deal for the 2011 season.

The Club also announce the retirement from the Wolves of Chris Hicks.

Tony Smith commented by saying;

“We are delighted to be signing Joel as players of his calibre does not become available too often and the timing of this opportunity along with Chris Hicks reconsidering his retirement has meant it has all fallen into place for the best interests of all concerned.

Joel is a player we have considered signing in the past and its fair to say that the chance has come along sooner than expected, but we also feel that it is absolutely the right time to stand by and support Joel and his brother Michael, and this will certainly enhance our squad for the season ahead.”

Tony Smith also commented on Chris Hicks by saying;

"I personally would really like to thank Chris for his services over the past three seasons, everybody here at the club has thoroughly enjoyed working with him.

Both on and off the field Chris has always acted like a true professional, he has left many happy memories and will do for years to come."

Warrington Wolves would also like to thank Chris for his excellent work both on the field as a prolific try scorer and off it with the comittments he has made within the Warrington community itself.

We wish him and his family the very best for the future and the Hicks family will always be welcome here at The Halliwell Jones Stadium any time.

Chris commented;

"I see this opportunity as a good time to reconsider my retirement since realising that this move for Joel could be on the cards, It’s helped make the descision that much easier knowing that there will be a sound replacement stepping into the club. Ive been friends with both Mick and Joel for a while and the chance for them to play together will be a great move for the club.

Also many thanks to the club for giving me three great years, epecially thanks go out to the fans and our friends at the club for always making us welcome and feel at home.

I have made lots of friends and take away nothing but fond memories, Warrington will always be close to my heart.'"

Strange that Hicks signed a new contract and then decides to retire. Sounds like he's been forced out.

Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_39110.jpg

I heard it was between leeds and warrington to sign monaghan. Leeds tried a under hand tactic by telling monaghan that warrington was dog rough.

That was a mistake as it swung it in warringtons favour.

[size=100:2md8k3b3][b:2md8k3b3]'Do you remember when we had that meeting in Orlando? We talked about how we were knocked out the previous year by Leeds. And at the end, I asked you one question. "Do you want to be a semi-final team? Or do you want to do something special?" You all said you wanted to win. But talking is easy – it needed you to believe. It needed you to work hard – harder than you had – and make sacrifices. You did all that. you worked for each other. You stuck together when it was tough. And because of your efforts, you sit here tonight as champions. I'm proud of you. Be proud of yourselves. You've done something special.' Wolves, dogs - all the same to him.

Every time he gets the ball next season we should all start barking.
