Super League referee Steve Ganson will not face any further action following his arrest earlier this year.
The 40-year-old St Helens official was withdrawn from taking charge of the Challenge Cup semi-final between Catalans and Warrington on August 8 after being arrested following an incident outside a hotel.
He did not referee for the rest of the season, but the Crown Prosecution Service have today confirmed that he will not face any further action, while the Rugby Football League say he will resume refereeing next season.

I don't think we can really say that. It's perfectly possible to get caught up in a ruck when you're not the instigator or the main offender. It happens often enough on the RL field.

Being proven guilty and actually being guilty are 2 different things, look at OJ simpson!! I am one of a few people that KNOW he was guilty
He wasn't the instigator, he reacted badly to some goading but what he did was disgraceful and deserves punishment who ever you are.

one thing gason is not,he is not a good ref,for one thing his attitude against certain tems and players if studied closely is an utter disgrace.just look at the arrogant attitude on his face in some of the wigan matches,and off the field i am led to believe he is just the same.

I acyually think he's the best ref in SL by a fair distance, and that has nowt to do with him being from St Helens - I just like that he doesn't take any sh*t and a few other refs could take a leaf out of his book when dealing with Sinfield/Eastmond/Tomkins/Briers etc. |

Couldn't agree more.
Everyone knows where the line is with Ganson, if you talk back to him you're sat down for 10 minutes. Seems to get on with the players well too, and to be a top class ref you need a personality. |
