Posted a while back that some bloke was on bbc rl news saying the week before gf the club would announce a massive announcement.Well we have heard nothing yet but he has been back on there this week saying nothing has been said because the club are still in talks and things still need to be sorted out.So someone asked him what do you mean things need to be sorted out and asked him is it anything to do with a new stadium and the bloke posted back you are not a million miles away.Iknow its all speculation at the moment but i defo know that whealan has some kind of illness because someone i know works on the latic coaching staff and he said they have heard that he is ready to sell up everything.THOUGHTS!!!!!!!

I think he's been ready to sell for a while, but whether Wigan can, or would be prepared to meet his price is another matter.
As things are, Wigan have a very good deal at the DW - a long-term lease at a generous price. They pay very little towards the upkeep of the stadium, and I can't see them voluntarily surrendering that.
Maybe taking charge of a percentage of the DW would be possible, and probably desirable given that it would end the constant sniping about not owning our own ground, but IL doesn't strike me as the sort of bloke who'd make a move of this sort unless it was 100% beneficial to his plans.
That said, in a recent interview, IL said that Whelan was happy to sell the club to him because he wanted a Wiganer in charge, and he may feel the same way about passing on the DW. He's regularly at Wigan matches, and a couple of times I've seen him and IL deep in conversation. |
