39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| Play-offs never get big crowds first game, fact of life. The 6k are missing out. What a game we saw last night.

29281_1270406980.jpg When Maurice sold me to Leeds something changed, it just not the same, the passion inside me just wasn’t the same as running out at Central park for my hometown club.
We need a change of culture here; we don’t want to be just happy with playing ok on Saturday at St Helens.
Ill make sure that from now on things will change, that players will be under pressure and will train a lot harder than they have before.

| I can't believe people are so shocked.
1. Kids ST work out £1 a game, so last nights game cost at least £8
2. People would have saved some dosh for the game in 2 weeks (had we got through last night)
3. 11K home fans paying top dollar isn't all that bad
seems that the club haven't learned jack about why so many fans were missing as they are employing the same ticket prices for Fridays game. I do fear for the attendance this week, HKR will bring a few more than Leeds but I still dont see the crowd getting any bigger than 10K.

| My 7 year old didn't come to the game because it was a school night. I'd assume many others would feel the same. I also think a lot of people see a Friday game as a night out on the ale rather than going to the match. Can't do that on a Sunday night.

| Halving ticket prices has never and will never double crowds. The club will make more money off 12,500 "full price" admissions than 15,000 "half price" admisssions.

Can't agree with you there pal, "The big one 1" V Leeds attracted 20K, a game that usually attracts 13-14K this was purley down to selling tickets for a tenner.
A ground with acres of empty seats make our game look shabby.

Earning the club less than 13-14K paying full price in the process. Full ground or full purse?

Full ground for me pal. The knock on effects from having new fans should far outweigh £5 on the price of a ticket ie. future ticket sales, merchandise sales, making the club more attractive to prospective sponsers

But the big one was marketed heavily for at least two months. You can't really do that in 5 days. All last weeks crowds were down heavily on regular season crowds.
Wigan v Leeds 17,883 to 12,117
Hull FC v Hull KR 20,079 to 17,699
St Helens v Warrington 17,500 to 14,632
Huddersfield v Crusaders did rise from 5,339 to 5,869 but a hefty rise in away fans attributed for that.

We didn't go as it is a school/work night and getting back here at 12-1am isnt workable with work the next day.

I kept the faith and I kept voting
Not for the iron fist but for the helping hand
For theirs is a land with a wall around it
And mine is a faith in my fellow man
Theirs is a land of hope and glory
Mine is the green field and the factory floor
Theirs are the skies all dark with bombers
And mine is the peace we knew

| I brought my kids, but won't again on a Sunday night. They were hyper, still up at midnight and a pain in the backside this morning.

It actually earned the club more - you forgot about the 10,000 who had already bought a seat because of their season ticket.

I thought that the gate money from the play-offs went to the RFL - it is then split between the top eight as prize money. The club would only take their expenses out.
